There is probably no better way to start the day than with a run along the Baltic Sea. 🌊🏃

Before breakfast I headed out for an easy 8.7 km run along the beach in Karwia. Strong wind, dark clouds and powerful waves created an unforgettable atmosphere. Despite the demanding weather, it was incredibly peaceful, with only the sound of the sea and a few early walkers sharing the shoreline.

I also captured a few drone shots from this morning, and one of them became the cover photo of today's post.

Chyba nie ma lepszego sposobu na rozpoczęcie dnia niż poranne bieganie nad Bałtykiem. 🌊🏃

Jeszcze przed śniadaniem wybrałem się na spokojny trening 8,7 km po plaży w Karwi. Silny wiatr, ciężkie chmury i wzburzone morze stworzyły niesamowity klimat. Mimo wymagających warunków panowała wyjątkowa cisza – słychać było głównie szum fal i pojedynczych spacerowiczów.

Udało mi się również nagrać kilka ujęć z drona, a jedno z nich zostało zdjęciem otwierającym dzisiejszy wpis.

After breakfast we took a bus to Hel, the town located at the very tip of the Hel Peninsula. Walking through its streets, visiting the harbour and discovering the atmosphere of this unique place was a perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Po śniadaniu wsiedliśmy do autobusu i ruszyliśmy na Hel, czyli miasto położone na samym krańcu Półwyspu Helskiego. Spacer po uliczkach, wizyta w porcie i odkrywanie klimatu tego wyjątkowego miejsca były świetnym sposobem na spędzenie popołudnia.

Hel has a fascinating past. For centuries it was an important fishing settlement, while in the 20th century it became one of Poland's key defensive positions. During the September Campaign of 1939, the Hel Peninsula defended itself for over a month and was one of the last places in Poland to surrender.

Today you can still find preserved bunkers, artillery positions and military fortifications hidden among the pine forest. These impressive concrete structures remind visitors of the strategic importance this place once had.

We also visited the symbolic Beginning of Poland monument, one of the best-known landmarks on the peninsula.

Hel ma niezwykle ciekawą historię. Przez wieki był ważną osadą rybacką, a w XX wieku stał się jednym z kluczowych punktów obronnych polskiego wybrzeża. Podczas kampanii wrześniowej w 1939 roku Rejon Umocniony Hel bronił się przez ponad miesiąc i należał do ostatnich miejsc w Polsce, które skapitulowały.

Do dziś można zobaczyć zachowane bunkry, stanowiska artyleryjskie i fortyfikacje ukryte w nadmorskim lesie. Te potężne betonowe konstrukcje przypominają o ogromnym znaczeniu strategicznym tego miejsca.

Odwiedziliśmy również symboliczny Pomnik Początku Polski, będący jednym z najbardziej charakterystycznych punktów Półwyspu Helskiego.

Later we walked through the harbour, watched the vessels entering the port and explored the town. Hel perfectly combines maritime traditions, military history and a relaxed holiday atmosphere, making every visit a little different.

Później przeszliśmy do portu, obserwowaliśmy wpływające jednostki i spacerowaliśmy po mieście. Hel doskonale łączy rybacką tradycję, wojskową historię oraz wakacyjny klimat, dzięki czemu każda wizyta pozwala odkryć coś nowego.
