Spineless

stay above the surface
among exposed roots and rivulets
mangroves tops and moss carpets
float down channels and canals
manmade or the best example
of Martian engineering
carve up the world
savannah or desert
a dried up plain of baked earth
where a droplet is a well
where torrents used to flow
and now the land caves in
flake by flake
time's fingerprints dissolved

or get stuck in a muddy mess
swamps and bogs
an other such novelty environs
hold your ground with sticky tenacity
there is no protection
in a world that has stopped moving
no distraction and only the presence
of all kinds of predatory things
but in the water
keep an open mind
a soft touch
standing your ground
dams up the flow
gets you stuck in the gutter

so put up your feet
let go and give way
no shell
no scaffolding
now that is what I call
fearless living
even a still pond does a ripple
takes on an ornate solar reflection
glare convergence offers safe passage
keeps those with a taste for the vulnerable
otherwise occupied with shiny mirages
hovering in aqua-space
constant ciliation
flamboyantly tender
doggedly persistent
finlike solar sails
sparkling anodized, fleshy hulls
whiskers in all directions
never intimidated by harder things

The season is in full swing. We've been skating, light display viewing, and baking up a sugar-free blizzard.
On the dessert menu is the obligatory roll of cake and whipping cream known as the Yule log, or as Madeline calls it Bûche Noel. Up next, you ask ... rum balls of course. To be honest it will probably be bourbon balls.
Take your raw chaffle mix, 3 eggs for every 250g of cream cheese, pour a thin layer in a sheet pan and bake to a golden brown at 350.

Whip some heavy cream with cooled liquified gelatine and add stevia drops and spice to taste. I used cinnamon and nutmeg. Put it back in the fridge to get thick and then spread on a cooled cake.

Roll, baby roll.

Yum! I have yet to do any baking, despite all my discussions with you about it. Where oh where does the time go?
I think I need to make my pumpkin roll this weekend. Very similar to yours, but I also make peppermint ice cream from scratch (I do have an ice cream maker - I'm a snob that way).
Yum ... chocolate chip mint is my favorite.
Rum balls! That sure brings back the memories of childhood!
Haha ... remember Brandy beans?
Um, YUM! That yule log of yours looks divine! And the whipped cream sweetened with stevia part has me slightly drooling. Ima go find some food lol!
Beautiful festive food you got there my friend!
