Day 22: Vacuum cleaner

Good morning Hivers,

I'm starting to have a decent-looking collection if I may say so myself. I can't wait to see the final collage of all the items that I photographed in one overview. The last post was about a tiny dust blower, and I start noticing how I link items to different objects, and so forth.

Today marks the 22nd day, can you imagine, I already photographed and wrote about 21 ordinary objects that resemble a part of my life? From a tiny dust remover to a bigger dust remover, the vacuum cleaner. This vacuum cleaner is actually kind of nice and super handy.

Winning in life

I have a wireless vacuum cleaner that I bought after securing a streak of ridiculously easy trades in 10 minutes. I remember well. The first thing that I bought with the profit was sushi for Lackofcolor and me, then a vacuum cleaner. It almost felt like stealing. I still see a lack of colors proud smile, looking at me as if it was unbelievable. Even though it was just a few hundred bucks, the feeling of winning never fails, how big or how small.

I decided to buy this vacuum cleaner as it would benefit my life. One of the chores that I enjoy doing is vacuum cleaning as I can think while doing it. Some sort of meditation chore if you'd ask me. But one thing that I didn't like about it, was the start and the end; getting the damn thing and plugging in and out of a power supply. Especially if your vacuum cleaner is broken and the chord gets stuck.

Wireless vacuum cleaners are just hand-held vacuum cleaners on steroids if you'd ask me. Brilliant invention. It gets the job done, and it is so easy to pick it up to clean something without crouching or having the feeling that you're wasting time by spending more time on chords than cleaning something up. Yes; you win in life when you buy a wireless vacuum cleaner. Here again, shows that I value time a lot. I want to save time, so I can do stuff I enjoy (and get lost in it).

It's so nice, you gotta buy it twice

After buying one for myself, and @lackofcolor moving to Enschede, I thought this was the perfect gift for her to easily clean her house without the hassle of chords. It's so compact, you can easily hide it somewhere. Now that we live together, it is a must-have to have two, as you occasionally need to recharge the batteries of the vacuum cleaner, or when you need to clean the thing, it needs to air-dry for 24 hours.

This edition has lights on it, which is super helpful when spotting dust on the floor. You'd be surprised what we miss when we start cleaning our house, because everything may look perfect, but our eyes deceive us as there is always (most of the time) dust lying around on the floor.

The creative process

This photograph is one of the last photographs that I took for this challenge. I will tell you more about that in the summary of this challenge. And right at that moment, @lackofcolor came back home. I was hoping to be done before she got here as she had a long exhausting day. Since my vacuum cleaner has lights on it, and you usually spot dirt and dust, I thought it would be nice to photograph and illustrate just that. A spotlight that hunts for dust, right before it gets sucked up by the vacuum cleaner.

About the challenge

Photograph and write a little bit about 30 ordinary items that I used a lot in 2022. You can read more about the challenge, and join yourself here. This challenge is just a little experiment.

Convenient cleaning

I did notice the way how I started cleaning with this wireless vacuum cleaner. I picked it up more often, I started cleaning right after things. Or if I saw something that bothered me, I could just grab the thing and suck it up. This made me realize that most of the time when we see dirt and it bothers us, we are the ones that suck it up until we prepare ourselves to give a proper room sweep. Convenient eh? Both for the mental brain and for a clean house.

Our vacuum is clean, what about yours?

Cheers,
Ruben

Morning! Oh, I'm very excited to see that too. I thought about it from the beginning of the challenge, to make the big collage.
For my part, I intend to photograph the things I clean the house with. I will do it the day I can dedicate more time to this household chore because these days have been very rushed.
Your vacuum cleaner looks like a spaceship. I'm going to sleep, finally.

Goodmorning, it's about time for us to go to bed. The vacuum cleaner is just a small upgrade for the dust blower, which looked like a small rocket ship according to someone else :P. I'll have to catch up with your blog posts tomorrow, before the busy Christmas days! Goodnight from @lackofcolor and I :))

Everyday again, I'm grateful for that wireless vacuum cleaner😂 Actually, it's one of the best presents you gave me now I think about it. I can't explain how much I hated using my old vacuum cleaner, only because of that big machine you had to pull with you and the wire that got stuck around every corner...

Haha, yes... I thought it was the perfect gift for you and your apartment. No more wires for us! untitled.gif
