Blanco Court’s Fried Fish soup (A good choice on a rainy day)
The question that I feel excited to answer is “What's going to be my diner for today?” With so many options to choose from, there are times that I have difficulty choosing because there are so many dishes that pop to my mind whenever I think about food. At times when I can't decide on which type of food that I want, I simply browse back to my blogs and see which one will catch my attention.
In many ways, posting about the food that I eat is beneficial to me. The first benefit is that I'm becoming aware about the food that I eat. Lately, I'm noticing that I become critical about the nutrition that the food has . Because of that, I tend to choose healthier types of food or try to balance the types of dishes that I order. This prevents me from eating unhealthy stuff all throughout the week.
Another benefit is that I'm starting to plan my meals in such a way that I no longer stick to the same type of food all throughout the week. A planned meal is a good habit to maintain because our digestive system will be able to maintain the right balance.
Dinner time!
It was raining in the afternoon and there's a gentle cold breeze afterwards. That became the sign for me to go find a soup that feels soothing to sip in this chilly weather. It was a good timing because I've been planning to go to Blanco Court for the second time to have a nice Fish soup.
When I first visit this place, I ordered the standard Fried fish soup that they have. It's the one with an added milk or cream into the soup. I'm not comfortable drinking a fish soup with milk in it. So, for this visit , I told the person who takes the order to not add any milk or cream in the soup. She gladly accept my order because I believe there are other customers who have the same preference similar to mine.
I was given the choice to select either noodles or rice. Rice is the one that comes to my mind because I was hungry. It’s more filling compared to noodles.
My impression of the fish meat is that it's chunky and it looks fresh because it doesn't fall apart easily. I commend the frying of the fish because the exterior is solid but the inside is very tender and moist. I wonder if it's because of the soup? Maybe the fried fish has absorb the soup which makes it moist from the inside? I guess that's one of the reasons.
Another good reason for me to like this dish is the amount of fresh vegetables in it. There are chopped cabbage and onion leeks in this bowl. I also taste a faint ginger flavor in the soup.
There's an interesting ingredient that was generously served in this bowl. There fried batter trimmings floating in the soup. I'm not a big fan of it because it's a little greasy but it definitely taste good when mixed together with rice and the soup. It soaks in the flavor of the soup and so it improves the overall experience with the food.
Blanco Court’s Fried Fish soup is on my list of the best top 10 dishes of Singapore. The quality of each ingredient is good. The serving size of the meal is just right for me to feel satisfied but not overwhelmed.
I will save this address and one day I will be in Singapore
Sure Bro. The place is simple but the food is good 👍 😊
