Let's go to the market, tomorrow is Christmas Eve!
Christmas Eve is about to arrive and it is customary in our family to celebrate with a dinner. This is a difficult tradition in these times that our country (Cuba) is going through, as it is no secret to anyone the economic situation and material shortages that the inhabitants of our country are going through. On the eve of such a significant date where we all get together to share food in gratitude for the family union, we go out to the markets in search of products to prepare the dinner.
In Santiago de las Vegas, the town where we live, there are not many market options for shopping. The variety of products is quite scarce and the prices do not compete, but the qualities do. By this I mean that the same product that you find in one place has the same price as in any other place, what can vary is that in one place it is of higher quality than in others.
After visiting a few points of sale, we arrived at an agro-market where we decided to do our shopping, as it was the one with the most options in terms of variety of products: viands, vegetables, fruits and grains.
This is the central aisle that divides the two areas of the market stalls. The floor is dirt, luckily it hasn't rained or else you'd have to walk in rubber boots like the one the boy is wearing.
Almost all the stalls have the same goods. What varies is the seller🤦. Unbelievable but true! Some products with more dirt than others, some smaller than others, but the pound and the kilogram cost the same.
With these "varied" options, the only thing left to do is to choose the products where we can best and according to the budget we had to buy, as we had already had expenses with meat 😬... And it is better not to talk about the prices, because here are full salaries corresponding to a month's work of any person.
Some green and ripe tomatoes, yucca, onions, chilli, malanga, ground corn, grated coconut was the purchase of the day in this agromarket.
This market that I show you today is the one we can go to for shopping. It is typical in our country, where we can find a variety of products obtained from the land and some meat products such as pork, mutton and rabbit.
Another time we passed by a place selling sweets and bread. Here we bought a cake to share tomorrow.
Despite all the real and sad difficulties we face internally and externally, Cubans are very sociable and always try to maintain close ties with friends and family. So tomorrow will be a joyful day to share and celebrate life together.

Hi Yenny! as you tell it! little supply, to be euphemistic, and also extremely expensive. Yesterday I saw a cabbage at 190 pesos!!!! is crazy the issue of inflation and the very low salaries paid in the state sector and many private ones. I imagine that also having a baby girl, everything becomes uphill. Much strength my friend!
That's right, my friend. It's all very difficult, but thanks to friends and family, the reality of the situation becomes more bearable.

Hello! Hello! Market Friday is running so late this week, I was under the spell of the Christmas holiday, surrounded by family and obligations, although they are heart-warming wonderful ones! I tried to get many done, but, fell short on the ones posted a little later. I apologize for the delay in answering and I hope you know how much I appreciate the great participation. I might not be able to comment all as my time is not my own - for this time. I will always upvote when I get the time, but, I wanted to be fair and let you know.
I try to let people know how much I appreciate their participation in #MarketFriday! Even though I get many on a weekly basis, each one is read and enjoyed. By now, you must know how much I enjoy learning about the world and how it is to live in your corner of it, and, make yours or mine better in any way. I have been given hints to make life nicer, and recipes to make dinner interesting. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different indicators than the world does. It is not always about the wealth in money, sometimes money means very little when there is no value behind it. You cannot buy health although you can take care of what you have. Being educated isn't always about schooling, but acquiring knowledge and using it for the better good and happiness of the society you are living in. It is with great pleasure that I read through this and all of the posts, with these thoughts in mind. Thank you for being part of #MarketFriday!

"It's never too late if it's too late," and it's a good thing this time. I confess that I thought my writing was a total disaster, as I didn't even have a comment. I thought about giving up posting in this community, but I think I'll try again this week. Thank you for taking the time to respond. Not at all. They are perfect. If you keep looking, you will see they are very different from each other. It is because we like to familiarize ourselves with different cultures. We know we are different. But many times, we can find small sameness. You dont't have try to fit in. We all fit fine.
