A Hearty Seafood Meal by the River

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share some photographs about my day out to Kuala Selangor yesterday. I went to eat at a famous restaurant called River View Seafood Restaurant. It is an eating outlet built on top of a river like a jetty and has a floating appearance.

This is the entrance of the restaurant. They have a crab statue right there to welcome customers because that is their signature dish. It is the milk crab meal made with a beautiful combination of spices and condiments. I have had it before and they also provide us with hammers so we don't have to struggle to break the hard crab shells.

This is a beautiful mural painting that I spotted on the right side of the entrance area. It features some fishermen catching fish with their net in their boats, some storks flying around in the sky just like how many do here, and some beautiful blue sky like in the photos I took earlier.

We ordered a jug of iced lemonade as our beverage. Usually we choose a pot of Chinese tea as our drink. But this time we picked lemonade for a change. Moreover, the weather was very hot and I think some iced lemonade will help sooth it to an extent. It comes with a few tangerine too as they add a dash of tangy taste to the drink.

This is the view of the river. We can often see fishing boats going back and forth. Sometimes the fishermen will pose for a picture and video too. I saw one but he was going so fast like a speed marathon and I couldn't even open the camera app on time. Anyway, Kuala Selangor is a fishing town and many people come here to buy fish and seafood because they're all freshly caught. They will remain fresh in the fridge for at least two weeks. The pricing too is reasonable and there will be many choices as they're mostly caught wild.

I poured the lemonade for everyone and divided the ice cubes and tangerines equally for each glass. It was refreshing to drink a glass of cold drink in a warm day.

The vegetable that we ordered is garlic baby kailan. The chef sprinkled some fried onion on top. There were some minced garlic in the dish and it was cooked with oyster sauce. Look how green it is. I didn't edit any of the photos so this is the real colour. I'm thinking the natural lighting of the bright sun definitely helped as the table I was sitting at was the one at the edge towards the river.

This is sizzling tofu that came still boiling. It is basically some round egg tofu cooked with an omelette under it. They add some general ingredients to make it abit savoury and seafood condiments too. I have written a whole recipe on this dish before when I tried it at home.

This is stingray fish cooked in nyonya style. It's a local culinary made with some complex aromatic spices. The fish was tender and well cooked. It was easy to get the flesh off the bones and the curry had a thick consistency.

It was perfect to be eaten with a bowl of white rice. This is my plate by the way. I couldn't add all the items and ate some first before trying the side dish arriving last.

This dish arrived last after we started eating. It was a combination of grilled seafood. It was served with the aluminium foil so we left it as it was to retain some warmth while we ate the others. As I explored the dish, I found squids, prawns, lala and lady's fingers. They had some yummy gravy too and it tastes great when we pour some on the lala before eating them.

These are some information they posted around the restaurant. It has the opening hours depending on the days. They close on Mondays by the way as that's the day the market closes too. They also post that on their social pages. The other part is about some interesting places nearby and fun activities we can do like firefly watching and eagle feeding.

There was a jetty deck nearby and I went to check it out. I have seen the boats anchored here so the fishermen can go back up via the stairs at the deck. I have gone there before and it was shaking as I walked so I didn't go again.

Here's the view from the deck. That's the restaurant I ate in earlier, in the second picture.

This is the street of where the restaurant is. You can tell that it is a small town but it's also wonderful here without the constant buzzing of city. It was peaceful yet happening.

Thank you for dropping by and I wish you a wonderful day ahead.
