CHIUSURE : The Artichoke Village

Hello dear friends,

I'm very sorry for not having the time to publish my post yesterday, regarding this magnificent village that I had the fortune to discover a few days ago. This place is famous in Italy for its extensive artichoke cultivations, and every year, towards the end of April, they organize a splendid Artichoke Festival here.

I'm truly excited to share with you my experiences and the wonders of this enchanting village.

This small village is called Chiusure, and it is a hamlet of the municipality of Asciano in the province of Siena, a hill with a beautiful panoramic view. This village is also famous for its peaceful atmosphere and medieval charm. In fact, even here in the historic center, you can always admire the typical cobblestone streets and the ancient stone houses that contribute to creating an even more evocative atmosphere within this beautiful village.

By the way, if you happen to be in this area, I recommend visiting one of the main points of interest near Chiusure, which is the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, a beautiful Benedictine monastery that dates back to the thirteenth century.

But I must also remind you that for those who love outdoor activities and nature, the surroundings of Chiusure offer trails and scenic routes that provide splendid opportunities for hiking or cycling.

Within Chiusure, I didn't find many open activities, but it does offer some essential services such as a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Tuscan cuisine.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the most celebrated festival in this village is the Artichoke Festival, an event that celebrates the local culinary culture and showcases the excellence of the local products. Local chefs prepare unique culinary specialties such as fried artichokes, stuffed artichokes, artichokes "alla Giudia," and many other delicacies.

Furthermore, during the festival, activities related to artichokes are organized, such as cooking demonstrations with artichoke-based recipes, folk performances, live music, and much more. It's an occasion for the locals and visitors to come together and enjoy a traditional festival, both in terms of taste and conviviality.

I hope in the future, I also have the opportunity to participate in this festival because I have to tell you that I love fried artichokes, and it is one of my favorite dishes. So it will be a good excuse to definitely come back to this place.

One last thing, the village is not very big, you can explore it all in about two hours. As usual, I am always fascinated by the cleanliness and order found in the narrow streets. Those who live in these places know how to make this beautiful village even more beautiful.
