While some active #Ecency users got disappointed with the change on the awarding of the #Ecency Weekly Engagement Leaderboard by Melinda, it at least gave better chances for active users that are between Top 11 to 50 on the weekly leaderboard to win (which is a 10% chance to win 4 HIVE and 500 Ecency Points for being within the Top 50). 🧘‍♂️🤓

Indeed, I know, and I was one of them. I liked the old format so much better, but alas, it's gone, so I flow with how it is now. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

If only there aren't #Ecency users whose comments are too short, then Melinda wouldn't have (needed to) make that change in her #Ecency Engagement Leaderboard weekly awarding. 🧘‍♂️🤯

Yep, I agree. There often does seem to be people that spoil a good thing by trying to game or take advantage of it. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It looks like the #Ecency dev team members responsible for the #Ecency Engagement Leaderboards simply count the number of posts or comments published by an Ecency user for the leaderboard ranking without taking into account the length of (and delays between) posts and comments !INDEED. 🤯🤓

Indeed, and that became fairly obvious pretty quickly. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

About half a year has passed since Melinda and some active #Ecency users noticed that some other Ecency users shot up to the top of the #Ecency Engagement Leaderboards quickly even with (very) short and similar comments, and nothing still apparently changed on how Ecency engagement leaders are displayed. 🧘‍♂️🤯

Indeed. I think that it would have been better to resolve the underlying mechanism that allowed useless comments to rise to the top, rather than changing the nature of the contest. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I think that Melinda could use (better if from the Ecency dev team) a script which determines the average number of words (or characters) on the comments of the Top 10 users on the #Ecency Weekly Engagement Leaderboard such that users with very low averages won't get prizes, !INSTEAD of changing the way winners are selected. 🧘‍♂️🤯🤓

Yes, I agree, that was another good option. Bjorn could have whipped one up quickly I'm sure. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Anyway, I just noticed the word "useless" on your comment there, something you have used here on Hive only once for the past 30 days according to #Ecency Search. 🤯😅

I think that in general, any contest that exists will have some people trying to take advantage of it, so the contest hosts should probably have the responsibility in adjusting their rules for the contest itself to be as fair as possible (to every participant). 🧘‍♂️🤓

That certainly seems to be the case, and yep, contest rule adjustments are a necessity I'd say. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

After all, contests are supposed to be !FUN and encouraging, so the hosts of any contest in general should adjust accordingly. 🧘‍♂️🤓

Indeed, and it should be fun for the Hiver who runs the contests too. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I think it's usually more !FUN if a contest here on Hive is run by more than one person on Hive !INDEED. 🧘‍♂️🤓
