Street Food & a Trash Adventure in Thailand 🍢 😄

Let’s continue the series — Thai street food.

Thailand is, first and foremost, about food.
Elephants, temples, islands… all of that comes after.
Food is number one here — no competition.

Thais eat everywhere and all the time:

  • during work

  • during rest

  • while cooking your food… they’re also eating 😄

I’ve even heard that instead of asking “How are you?”, they might ask: “Have you eaten yet?”

That says it all.

A Feast on Every Corner

Today’s lineup was as tempting as ever:

  • grilled scallops

  • fried baby octopus

  • sushi and rolls of every kind

Everything looks fresh, colorful, alive.
Honestly, I could shoot new dishes every single day.

But there’s one thing — pulling out a big camera and pointing it at someone’s food stall feels a bit… off.
So most of these moments stay on my phone.

Simple Choice 🍓

In the end, we kept it simple.

Chocolate-covered strawberries and those crispy slices with nuts and sesame — made right in front of us.

And just look at that strawberry…
ripe, glossy, almost too perfect to eat.

Almost 😄

The Great Tooth Disaster 🦷

Now here’s where the day took a turn.

We spent half the day… looking for my son’s teeth.
Yes, actual teeth. Don’t ask.

He wears a special dental appliance — kind of like “temporary teeth” that help guide the real ones into place as they grow. We just call them his second teeth.

So in the morning, he put them on a plastic bag.

Later, I did what I always do — cleaned up and took the trash out.

You can probably see where this is going.

Mission: Trash Hunt

After lunch, we realized the teeth were gone.

A bit of detective work later…
yep — they went out with the garbage.

And since we had them made back in Russia (with molds, fittings, all that fun stuff), replacing them quickly here is… not really an option.

So there we were.

Standing by the trash.
Then digging through it.

Let’s just say — it was not our proudest moment 😄

No Happy Ending (This Time)

We didn’t find them.

Gone. Just like that.

So yeah… that was our day:

  • street food

  • sweet snacks

  • and an unexpected trash adventure

Not bad, right?

How was your day? Was it just as fun? 😄

Sorry for losing something so precious and expensive as well. This is the second post I read today, about throwing out something valuable, but the other story ended well, not like yours. Looks like your back account is going to get a hit 😬

The food looks great though.

Too bad for your son's teeth, but it seems you have been able to enjoy a lot of delicacies. The colors look wonderful!

There was a time when I was very young that I accidentally threw out my retainer, which is a plastic and metal thing that you put in your mouth after having braces for many years, and these things are really expensive for god knows why. Well my family and I spent hours going through the dumpster of I think it was an Arby's and man that was not a fun thing. In the end we didn't find it and I had to get a new one. I was in pretty big trouble that day because my family is not wealthy and this was hundreds of dollars.
