Trying nasi lemak at Bungkus Kaw Kaw

My family and I went to the new Tropicana Garden Mall in Kota Damansara. The mall was opened somewhere between March and June last year 2021. We went there because we wanted to try the family-friendly karaoke joint that was viral on TikTok.

The karaoke joint name is LoudSpeaker. Tropicana Garden Mall is really nearby my housing area. However, the traffic was always bad. From my house, it could take around 20 to 30 minutes of driving for a distance that is less than 15KM.

We went out at 5 pm and arrive at 5.35 pm. After parking our car, we straight away went to the 3rd level. Unfortunately, all of the karaoke rooms were fully booked. The next available slot will be at 9 pm. The staff was asking whether we wanted to put in our reservation for the 9 pm slot.

After a few minutes of thinking, I and my wife decided that we would not proceed with the reservation. So we went out of LoudSpeaker and had a quick stroll in the mall. There were a lot of vacant spaces at the higher level of the mall.

The lower level was more lively. I think it is because most of the restaurants were located on the lower level. One of the restaurants that are there is Bungkus Kaw Kaw.

Bungkus kaw Kaw does means something in Malay. But when translated to English, somehow the phrase has lost its means. Bungkus means to wrap, while Kaw Kaw means strong and often use to describe either food or drink.

My daughters told me that they were thirsty. I brought them to have a drink and maybe get something to bite at Bungkus Kaw Kaw. Bungkus Kaw Kaw serves traditional meals such as nasi lemak, and various types of kuih.

The price at Bungkus Kaw Kaw can be considered on the premium side. Once in a while is ok to eat here. Eating here every day is not an economical choice.

I told my daughters to secure a table, while I and my wife queued at the ordering counter. While waiting for the person in front of us to complete his order, I took several photographs of the Bungkus Kaw Kaw area.

Customers need to place their order at the ordering counter and make payment there. Upon payment, an order number will be given. Customer can pick up their order when the number is shown on the queue number display.

When it was our turn to place our order, we take a look at the menu and ordered three drinks and two nasi lemak. The drinks of our choice were iced milo, iced KoLo (coffee plus milo), and iced lime rose.

I was so hungry that I finished a pack of nasi lemak within a few minutes. The nasi lemak was really good. The nasi lemak portion was just nice and the sambal was not that spicy.

The downside was the amount of iced KoLo was too little for me. The amount does not justify the price that I paid. After finishing our meals, we went out of the mall and head for home.
