Awake Cafe & Bistro

It's probably been around 4 to 5 months since I've been on a coffee date with my wife. Every time she's in town, one little coffee date has always been mandatory. Yet, we've failed to maintain that streak whenever she's visited in the past few months.

This time she was in town for about 4 to 5 days, and I was busy, nor was the weather so welcoming; the odds were against us. However, just before she left, we managed to successfully go on a coffee date; after so many days and months.

She's already in Khulna by now, probably resing, while I'm here solidifying our memories onto the blockchain.

This little coffee date at Awake Coffee Roasters was a long-waited one.

I myself have been planning to visit alone, their menu just looked that good on social media. The pictures are so scrumptiously photogenic, capable of wooing and luring you in. Yet, I'm on a mission, and I will not give in so easily.

As you all know, I did bring down my number of cafe visits quite drastically; if not, and if I chose to give in, then I'd visit these cafes at least once a month. I'd come over and splurge some money, order a nice hot and protein-filled sandwich, with a classic chocolate brownie of course, and a smooth serving of cappuccino.

The perfect solo coffee and cafe experience?

I'd say so...

But, to be honest, now is not the time to spend so extravagantly. The costs are high and my income has been a tad bit unstable these past few months.

This coffee date, however, was much needed.

My wife and I have been distant for quite a few months, so I just had to manage some time for us two. And obviously, she'd never say no to a late afternoon coffee date.

Awake Cafe & Bistro is the spot we chose.

We got there at around 5 PM, the weather was warm and cool at the same time so we decided to sit in the outdoor area. The only problem was, that these outdoor areas were for smokers, and this area just reeks of irritating cigarette smoke and nicotine. Now, I'm quite used to it though, thanks to my buddies and their smoking habits; however, for my wife, it's quite suffocating.

Fortunately for us, the smokers weren't there for long...

Our plan was to have lunch there. So we ended up ordering two big sandwiches, a chicken tikka sandwich, and a tuna melt sandwich. We shared both sandwiches and as always, the chicken tikka came out on top; our people have just nailed this recipe, in every cafe and restaurant.

I went with the classic chocolate brownie, and this definitely was one of the best brownies that I've tasted. The wife has been eyeing the blueberry cheesecake and that's what she went with, but she didn't have room for it, so we ended up taking it back home haha.

The wifey decided to skip coffee this time. She likes to have coffee after 7 p.m.

So, after our little lunch, I went with the usual cup of cappuccino, just to compare it to other popular coffee shops and their cappuccinos. After the first taste, I realized that this thing's taste was just like the cappuccino from Arabika; I found no difference actually, except for the looks.

Yet, was it bad? Hell no! It was quite alright(not as good as Tabaq though lol).

A pretty blue and green view on a late afternoon with some good coffee and the wife present right there with me, I've missed this, and I realized that it's definitely been a while.

All in all, Awake Cafe & Bistro was quite alright, better than Arabika? There's a possibility. But, I will have to be back on a solo trip to confirm it. Well, that's about it I guess. That was this week's coffee update and experience.
