A piece of cake...

Looks like the cool weather and a few familial responsibilities have both managed to bring me out for a walk in this rainy, muddy season. I usually try to avoid going out during this season, I'd rather stay inside and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and have khichuri(khichdi) with achar for all three of my main meals.

Yet, here we are, out for a little rickshaw ride and a little walk, the main purpose and attraction of the day would be to have a bit of cake for dinner.

No, not just cake, of course there'll more "wining and dining", because it was my little nephew's birthday yesterday. So, the cake surely was the most "important" part, and so was the man of the hour, or should I say baby of the hour? One of the most dearest and loved babies from the bunch, a baby whom I last met about a year ago.

The little man just turned 1 yesterday; how time flies, I still remember holding him when he was just a few days old, and now he can walk all by himself, boss around a bit, like a little boss baby. Even though he's still quite a calm kid I'd say, I've never seen him cry or be a bit "too much to handle" from these two little gatherings of ours.

A well behaved dapper little man, he fits well with and is as an example of as they say how...

I mostly choose to avoid going out in the rainy monsoons because of the very sudden downpour we have to face, there's really no way you can tell or identify the behavior of our odd "city-like" weather.

In the morning it will be all sunny and hot, and just when you're headed out back home, you'll be "overburdened" with a ton of rain, mud and floods, while you're running out here without an umbrella or raincoat.

Why not carry an umbrella or raincoat then?

Let's just say I don't like to head out well organized, all ready for battle, prepared to give my life, and then suddenly hear that the war has been postponed, I'd rather fight and lose a finger at that point.

Or maybe I'm just lazy? Trying to come up with a few "witty" excuses, so that I'm granted the "right" to be clumsy.

Perhaps I don't even mind getting drenched by the rain? As I get soaked and cleansed, the only worry would really be the money in my wallet, the phone in my pocket, and the documents and papers in my bag.

After covering a little over a kilometer by foot, I decided to get on a rickshaw and cool off a bit before reaching the venue. Luckily, I wasn't the last one to arrive. So, I guess taking my time and walking a little distance surely wasn't a bad idea.

The venue was actually a Thai restaurant known as Thai Emerald, which is quite a fancy restaurant they say. Yet, the only fancy thing I saw was the location and the prices they charged, the rest was quite identical to every other "fancy" restaurant I've been to.

Well, at least the little walk yesterday was quite pleasant and peaceful, and so was our little event.

The streets were empty, one and all engulfed by a cool little breeze, good food on the table, all surrounded by our loved ones. We took our time and enjoyed those few hours together, because we barely get to see each other a lot; so it surely was a good opportunity to catch up.
