It's that time of year... new me, new healthy habits, hitting the gym every day... yada yada yada 😉

Where I think a lot of people fall down is taking too much on at once.

For example, some of the most successful people in life have all repeated a fundamental truth - that the key to success is to focus on one goal, pursue it to the best of your ability until you achieve what you set out to do, and then move on to the next goal.

Don't believe me?

There is no need to take my word for it...

“If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got.”

Lee Iacocca

“You can do two things at once, but you can’t focus effectively on two things at once.”

Gary Keller

"To do two things at once is to do neither."

Publius Syrus

"The shorter way to do many things is to only do one thing at a time."

Mozart

This is why I always start a drive to improve my fitness with the bedrock of good health, which is eating right! This is not to say that once I have a healthy eating routine dialled in mentally, I won't move on to increasing my swimming and cycling to higher-intensity workouts or start incorporating gym training into my weekly routine.

Once you have changed your routine regarding food so that you no longer crave those unhealthy snacks, or habitually eat a dessert after every meal, it's not a problem anymore. It isn't something that requires focus and you can move on to changing your psychology around physical fitness, work productivity etc.

But... one thing at a time.

Slow and steady wins the race!

Otherwise, the same old story of January burnout, followed by a slow decline in those healthy routines throughout the spring, is repeated.

At least this has been my experience before I started the 'master one thing at a time' strategy.

Thanks for reading 🌿

Way to start! Most people fail to acquire healthy eatig habits because they call it a 'diet' instead of 're-education';diet sounds short-term for some reason. Once eating healthy becomes a hobby it's a hella easy. And then comes exercising.

Yeah, you're right. And you hit on an important point.

Diets are a half measure to be honest. Becase limiting ur food intake to lose weight ain't sustainable, but eating decent portions of healthy foods... well once you've trained yourself to do that as standard, exercise will do the rest 😁

It's all about our caloric intake vs. the basal metabolic rate. Funny thing is that it's possibly cheaper to eat some homemade healthy meal than a burger/pizza.
