I don't eat a lot of junk food but one of my indulgences is dark chocolate. For years now it has been heralded as a health food; to be honest I never really bought the claim, but I did appreciate that if the cocoa content was high enough then the carb count was as low.

I often start my day with a small piece of chocolate and cup of coffee. Well ... seriously!!!

At least there is still coffee.

Angels of the Morning

A love poem to the Starbucks’ barista

IMG_1893 (1).jpeg

Angels of the morning
Into late afternoon
Skinny, droopy wings flap
From a round caboose

Angels don’t wear white
Who said such a thing
Angels wear black
Aprons dark green

IMG_1895.jpeg

A sip of your nectar
Nightmare to a dream
Some like it dark
I’ll take mine … with a splash of cream

A friend came by for dinner last night, but before tucking into the roast, we all took a walk a few blocks away to the beach and our occasional sledding slope.

The sky was doing something spectacular. The wind had begun to shred the low and heavy clouds to ribbons, and the reflection off the snow had strewn the sky with every color in the visible spectrum, the pastel version anyways.

Think of this one as an action shot.

What can I say. There was something about the blur that spoke to me.

Our sledding hill flanks one side of False Creek. Across the way is our local planetarium, the HR MacMillian Space Center in Vanier Park. A very distinct looking building in the shape of a First Nation's hat.

It looked particularly lovely last night.

Four more days to Xmas. Alas the snow is meant to begin its melt on Friday, and so another day of winter fun before it gets soggy. NO a white Christmas but getting closer.

Love the poem! I hope you shared it with them. You can get away with that when you're a gal; when we guys try that it comes across as just plain old creepy.

Y'know, I think we're missing a business opportunity to capitalise on Cadmium. I think "Cadmium Chocolate" has a nice ring to it. Once the small print not to be ingested and do not take internally is added, Bob's your uncle!
