Last week, my friends and I visited Kalaw, a famous hill resort in Southern Shan State, Myanmar. Kalaw is well known for its cool climate and the buildings built during British colonial era and some are over 100 years old. It used to be a hill resort town during British colonial rule and the British loved it because its climate was similar to that of England. And, the town became one of the popular tourist attractions in Southern Shan State, Myanmar after the colonial rule. There are many beautiful scenic places and we visited a few of them. They are Kalaw Heritage hotel, Kalaw railway station and Kalaw view point. The former two places were known to be over one hundred years old. We tried to visit other places like 'Christ The King Church' that is also over 100 years old and Shwe Oo Min pagoda cave but the military did not allow to access them. Kalaw, which is 4297 feet above the sea level, is a really beautiful place to visit with its cool climate during summer; you can search for more information about it at google. Currently Myanmar is under military coup and the military does not allow to access places near their base. I recommend the place to visit if you arrived Southern Shan State, Myanmar but currently it is not a good time to visit Myanmar.
