RE: #Wednesday Walk - From Being Disappointed to Discovering a Great Walking Trail.

@jacoalberts have you joined the South African community? It's just started, @zakludick set it up. I suppose I can show off some urban spots too, though I would need to convince a friend or two to tag along. I don't like it when I have to take photos and there isn't someone on lookout duty. I tend to get very absorbed in the photo-taking which leaves my butt vulnerable. I don't want 'undesirables' to think I am an easy target then. (I most certainly am not, but blood is tedious to get out of clothing, haha)

I am on the list that @zakludick has created yes. I need to pay a visit to his profile again!

I totally get what you say that you need to get someone to tag along, @pixelhuntersam. I like your thinking and I wish more people would be so responsible. I've been drilling that into both our daughters since they were little too! Blood is tedious to get out of clothing indeed...unfortunately, I have personal experience to testify to that...

I hope you can find someone to join you!

My husband is always looking out for me, though, walking is not really his thing and he can get grumpy when I drag him all over 😂 I have had a few close calls, but came away without much incident. They tend to get a bit startled when this tiny woman doesn't just roll over and comply, and that resulted in them bolting.

Yes, going for walks is not always everybody's favorite activity...and getting forced into doing something you don't really enjoy would make anybody grumpy...😊.

That's good to hear...lol! Don't let them intimidate you and even if you do get nervous, do not show your fear! Go, girl! Show them what you're made of...lol! Just don't get reckless! But I do get the impression that you won't take unnecessary risks...😊👍!

They didn't have any weapons, opportunists. It was when I lived in Polokwane. I used to walk most places there as we lived close to town and I didn't have a car. That isn't something I would do now. Cheers! Hope you had a wonderful day!

I'm glad to hear that no serious harm has come to you and that they didn't have any weapons. But still, it's not nice to find yourself in those situations.

You can't be too careful today. In February of 2019, we got attacked inside our house at 03h00 in the morning. By the grace of God, I was able to fight them off, but I still got stabbed with a knife and the blade broke off, sticking out of my face. It went into my lower lip and exited below my jaw... I had to have it surgically removed.

Fortunately, no physical harm was done to my wife though, as they couldn't get to her.

My day was busy so far, but good, thank you! I hope you have a wonderful day too👍!

Yikeees! That sounds terrible! I am glad you are both okay though. We had to up the security around our place quite a bit. They broke in here as well, but nobody was home as it was in the morning on a Friday. Hubby and I were at work, and mom-in-law had thankfully gone shopping. We found out later it was a gang that had hit several houses in the area, and if they found people at home, would rough them up and tie them up while they went about their looting. Divine intervention. Though I am still annoyed about the fact that they stole not only my PC and camera but found my external hardrive as well. I lost all my photos. 😭

There was also the incident where they tried to hijack my mom-in-law at gunpoint in the driveway. The didn't bargain on my husband being home. When they saw him they were spooked and fled. Since then we have upgraded our security quite a bit. Full alarm system, panic buttons, armed response, electric fence, security cameras.

At least I feel justified having my weapon stashes around the home though. 😅 But my husband is probably my biggest and most dangerous weapon. Woe to the poor sod who threatens his wife. He gets upset enough if someone is rude or disrespectful to me. 🤣

Still, it's terrible that you have to live on high alert even in your own home.

I have often joked though, that if a zombie apocalypse broke out in SA, many homes would essentially be miniature fortresses.

Wow! That was Divine intervention indeed with all of you being away from home during that break-in! Just so sad and frustrating about the damage and the loss of your PC, camera, and hard drive, losing all your photos.

That is what frustrates the living daylight out of me...You work for what you have, you mind your own business...yet these...imbeciles...(I can't really find a word to describe these...things), but they just come into your life and think they can help themselves to your stuff...

And as if that's not enough, they would not only harm you but even kill you without any reason, except for the fact that you have what they want...

I am so grateful to hear your husband was at home when they tried to hijack your mom-in-law...and that the cowardly trash that they are got spooked and fled!

I shouldn't be talking about this...I get so angry and worked up about it... My wife keeps telling me I should calm down. So, sorry about all the ranting...but wow, sometimes it just comes out...

That's a good thing that you have upgraded your security!

And weapon stashes around the house...good for you! We have the same here! And good for your husband for protecting you in the way that he does. That's awesome and that's how I believe a real man should be!!

Still, it's terrible that you have to live on high alert even in your own home.

I agree with you 110%!!

I love this🤣🤣🤣!!! Well said, @pixelhuntersam👍!

Hahaha, hells yeah. All jokes aside, I do always carry at least two weapons on me. I've never needed to use them, and I hope I never will. Part of that is because I am situationally aware and try to make myself an unappealing target from the get-go.
