Some squirrel baby actions.

I like to share squirrel posts on Fridays, as it feels like a suitable day to close the work week.

The mom has taught them well how to feed themselves here in our front garden, but at times the babies can be very clumsy.

There are 3 babies, and how I know this was that I saw them playing on the trunk of a palm tree below their nest, about two weeks ago. It is a big and high palm tree, and thankfully no predators have got to them. And so, I knew that sooner or later the three babies would all pitch up here in our front garden. Early every morning my wife lays out some food for them, and for the doves, so it was just a matter of time, and I had to be patient.

This was the first one that arrived in the garden, and it had an acorn until it decided that the avocado looked more interesting.

Yup, the acorn was forgotten as the little one got stuck into the avos.

Happy days, and it totally forgot about the acorn.

Just a lovely photo when I let out a soft whistle.

Not a very hygienic shot. Look how it now stepped on to that half eaten slice of avo.

This is the pip of the avocado, and it looks normal.

But it was not normal, as one of the little ones tried its luck to eat the whole thing.

Now when you plant it like this, with the eaten side at the top, then usually an avo tree will start growing out of it. How do I know? As we have seen it here and some neighbours also came to show us the pips that were planted in their garden by the squirrels, and the pips had little trees sprouting out of them.

Eventually, my patience was rewarded as I got all three in the garden yesterday, but I will show them to you in another post.

Oh yes, we love the little critters in the garden, and I have time to get them on camera due to my medical condition not allowing us to go out. But don't worry, as I'm slowly getting better and then we will be out and about again. Maybe even tomorrow. And it is also time now to attend to all of our rescheduled charity appointments.
Such is life.
