Congratulations on doing this labor. It's always a good idea to introduce children to reading, so they can leave screens aside for a moment and take a good book to read.

I remember reading my first book at 11 yo and it was magical (literally and metaphorically as it was Harry Potter) and the beginning of a great journey for me.
