Getting Ready for Another Week to Come

avatar

Good day to all the wonderful people of the wonderful Hive world. The week is almost over. It is time to prepare for the coming week again. Here in our place, we only have specific days for market time. So, I need to buy food good for one week since this day is the only vacant time I have in a week. another mother's duty it is. Allow me to share with you our little Public Market here in our barangay and my route every time I went there.

Thanks to @dswigle for initiating #MarketFriday, I can share my market day experience/contributions here in the Market Friday Community.

The Entrance

IMG20230114124957.jpg

There are three entrances to the Barangay Public Market and I always go to this one because it is the nearest entrance to me. You can find vegetables and spices here. Next to it was a little stall for banana cues and pinaypay which cost 10 pesos.

IMG20230114125008.jpg

Two meters and you are going to turn right to this area going to where the pork and fish are displayed. This area has stalls of footwear, ready-to-wear clothes, and eateries at the end of this area.

Slippers for Jewel

IMG20230114125040.jpg
My first option but the size was too small for Jewel.

I had to stop by this stall of footwear and took time to look for a pair of slippers for Jewel. She needs slippers to wear inside because the floor is too cold to our barefoot. So many colorful and nice slippers to choose from.

IMG20230114125222.jpg

Finally, I saw these cute pink slip-on slippers, and I knew she would like them because it is her favorite color. It costs Php140 the vendor gave me a 20 pesos discount so I pay Php120 (2.20 USD) for it.

Going to the meat section.

IMG20230114125748.jpg

This is the entrance to the meat and fish section. My next stop in the market was to buy 2 kilos of pork. Usually, this would last until Thursday. I had to cook extra food on Sundays for we always have lunch together with my in-laws. Sadly, I have no pictures of it. I tried scanning my gallery but found out I forgot to take pictures of it when I bought the meat. I had no one with me every time I go to the market and taking pictures is a bit struggling.

IMG20230114125759.jpg
The meat stall at the back is where I always buy pork.

IMG20230114125822.jpg

IMG20230114130159.jpg

Next in buying meat was to buy fish. Lots of fish stalls and I always buy from my "suki". I liked their fish, aside from that, I have no more problem cleaning the fish because they always clean it. And what I like the most is that she always gives me a Christmas gift during Christmas 😁. So, I bought this time 1 kilo of this fish (the one that she was cutting) for Php340 (6.24 USD).

Next was the dried fish.

IMG20230114130420.jpg

It is been a part of our daily meal to have fried dried fish on it. Dried fish can be an appetizer or can be a viand alone. It is best served with scrambled eggs during breakfast.

IMG20230114130428.jpg

There are many different kinds of fish being dried under the sun and sold in the market as dried fish or "Bulad" in our dialect. The available ones here in our local market range from Php240 (4.40 USD) to Php400 (8.81 USD) per kilogram.

I chose this one and bought 1/2 kilo of it.

Got to Buy Janneah's Skirt Uniform

IMG20230114131301.jpg

I should have gone to my last route when I saw this bunch of ready-to-wear school uniforms and remembered that Janneah's uniform skirt was torn out. So, I dropped by the stall and look for the one that is fit for her.

IMG20230114131310.jpg

The color of their uniform skirt is Navy blue. I had to estimate the exact measurement of her waistline but there are only two sizes available, the small one and the large one. So, I chose the small one, wondering if it fits her.

IMG20230114125429.jpg

IMG20230114131332.jpg
I paid 140 Pesos (2.57 USD) for this.

IMG20230114131320.jpg

There were lots of ready-made school uniforms to be found in the local market. There were also the uniforms for the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts which I planned to buy for Jewel next time.

The Last Route

IMG20230114132907.jpg

Finally, this was my last stall to stop by. I bought spices, usually, I buy onions, spring onions, garlic, and pepper. Did not forget to buy vegetables and other things needed in cooking (such as cooking oil, salt, and brown sugar) for the whole week.

When I got home, Jewel and Janneah were so happy to see what I bought for each of them.

IMG20230118073428.jpg

Gladly, the slip-on slippers perfectly fit Jewel. Now she would not be barefooted when in the kitchen.

Janneah had her skirt uniform fitted and she said it was a little tight, but she can still wear it in school.

Another mother's duty has been done. Thankful to God for providing all our daily needs. Despite the inflation rate, I can still be able to buy all those things we need to survive. Not much but it is more than enough.

That is all for this blog. With love, mommyjane 😘.

Wow, it's a good buy mommy, public markets will always be part of my journey also. It has the cheapest and nice to choose from dry goods as well as meat, fish, and dried fish. I think, minamaliit mo na naman c Janneah. She's big already hahaha

Hahaha, I underestimated Janneah's waistline and there's no other size available.

So sad, but we all feel the inflation. I'm curious, until when would we suffer from it?
