Un astro en el plato / A star on the plate
Preparé una arepa de maíz fresco
y sobre el plato la dejé un momento,
la tomaría con café negro
y ocurrió algo inesperado y excéntrico.
La arepa los ojos abrió
y revisó los bordes con preocupación,
quedó deforme y mal se sintió,
no era redonda como las que conoció.
I prepared a fresh corn arepa
and left it on the plate for a moment,
I would have it with black coffee
and something unexpected and eccentric happened.
