RE: MONOMAD CHALLENGE: Nazarenes, an image that awakens Faith and terror [Eng - Esp]

It had never occurred to me that Nazarenes resembled members of the KKK but now that you mention it it's quite understandable that someone would be frightened when seeing them for the first time especially if you're not from Spain or don't know anything about their traditions. It must be very strange to be walking around and suddenly see a group of guys with pointed hoods walking down the street without knowing what's going on, it's crazy that capirotes have existed since the Middle Ages, but the KKK only appeared in the 19th century and for some reason ended up with a similar outfit really doesnt pay justice, kinda mess up things for the church at least on the white ropes and pointing hats popular opinion, given all the negative refference that outfit can have today. I really enjoy your photos because you can see that these guys still look human even with their faces covered and everything, these traditions are strange because they can mean something totally different to those who practice them than to those who observe them and don't understand their religious significance.

Yes… I believe it’s a delicate topic and practice. I agree that some people could feel afraid when they see this groups, mostly if they have no idea about the Catholic tradition.

Thanks a lot for reading the post!
