From the Valley to a New Life on Top of the Hill

A 360-degree turnaround is what life feels like since packing my car to the brim with my personal belongings and taking the final drive up the hill yesterday morning.
Shell-shocked is how I've felt for the past three weeks.
I cannot even go there right now as it has been too much to digest! All I will say is that my faith in humanity took a slight dent!
What I take with me, however, is a lifetime of memories - immensely happy as well as heartbreaking times. Fabulous memories are what I hold on to!
My friend wanted a photo of my last goodbye, and Bonginkosi obliged.
Cynthia and I shed many tears this last month, but I somehow managed to say goodbye without crumbling!

Everyone offered to help me with this final move, but I needed to take my time and do it on my own.
More about the saga that preceded that another time.
It was a gorgeous sunny day, and the roads were clear, traffic lights all in my favour as I drove through the busy but beautiful Hillcrest commercial zone.
I was welcomed with love and warmth at my brother's home. What can I say - I am super blessed to have a loving extended family up here; absolutely priceless!
The sausages are happy to have another 'lap', but I miss my darling Poe. He is staying at my old home, under the care of my ex-staff member who lives on the property. Bonginkosi is Poe's playmate and also takes care of him when he's sick and needs to be given his medication.
I will be living here till my new home is transferred. I also believe it will be the best transition to a new environment. My sister-in-law will show me the ropes when my brother returns to work across the waters for his four-week stint, and I can keep her company. We are more like sisters than in-laws!
My bedroom was set up, as well as a small desk next door for my computer - they know all about my passion for blogging on Hive, and love reading all my stories.
My sister-in-law is the artist.

This is the view from my window.
My brother had arranged a spit-braai, just wanting to gather family and friends. No official welcome party; that would have been too emotional. Deep down inside I knew why he planned it for yesterday.
My older brother built this spit-braai (BBQ) that was braaing (BBQ'ing) a whole lamb that was periodically being basted with a large stalk of rosemary dipped in a special marinade.
I was so overwhelmed at the chance to let my hair down and just have fun that I forgot to take photos of the scrumptious dishes prepared by my sister-in-law and her family.
Served with homemade mint sauce, and delicious salads - a seven-layer salad, and a spinach, roasted butternut, Feta cheese, with roasted Almonds, plus featherlight, crusty hot Ciabatta bread, it was a feast fit for a king.
Followed by homemade Choc-nut Brownies and a Marshmallow pudding, it was the perfect ending to the meal.
I've not laughed so much in a very long time when the gals got together and started telling stories. The menfolk were still licking their wounds after our team lost the day's rugby match, and kept on popping their heads around the corner. I think our conversation was way more interesting;)
These were all the 'before' photos.
Yes, I lived in a beautiful green valley for over fifty years, but even though it feels like I sank into a deep, dark valley those last few weeks, I've survived.
Where I am now, I will be sitting at the top of the hills, with views all the way to the Indian Ocean on a clear day, and remember the beautiful memories of my gorgeous green valley!

I don't know but looking at you photo, I felt sad 🥹.
Maybe that thought of me getting old someday and moving to one of my siblings too?
Thus the last part reading made me smile knowing you are welcome! This made me realized that we may live separately with our siblings but still had that bond.
Hi @lhes, not easy to make the move, but I'm thankful that I made the right decision! Thank you for stopping by 🤗
Moved now, it will take time to settle and then enjoy life, welcome to your new home with many happy years ahead.

Hi Joan, I wanted to come up on Thursday already but Eezimove arrived so late on Wednesday, wasting the whole day! And then transferring all the online sites to the new owners was more complex, they have to be so careful because of fraud! Thankful it's all behind me, and glad to be here🥰
Will take time to settle after being in one place for a long time, exciting being moving into new home with family close to hand.
Online work has become absolutely crazy, I walked away from many offers after the incident you know of, reason why I stepped back and removed myself from many platforms, it is a risk with additional cost to ensure safety of late.
Enjoy the weekend, will be here for now then back to the grindstone on Monday 🙃❤️
Wow! You're out!
That is one beautiful place you are staying and that view is amazing. You may have said before, but somehow I didn't catch that you would not be going directly into your new home. I believe you may be right that the this could be good for you as a nice break before the next part begins and all the better to have people you love and that love you around you.
Finally Jacey, it all took so long but I think it was meant to be. Gave me a chance to get used to the idea.
It's so beautiful up here, very peaceful and so nice being with family! Things changed because the transfer of my property went through much quicker than expected. I believe it was meant to be, less of a shock to the system not being alone immediately 🥰
Sjoe, that is a major change in your life, but I'm glad you've got the Durban Family to support you. Curious about what the heck humanity did to get your feathers ruffled. Gosh, humans can be horrible.
Happy birthday for yesterday Therneau! Sorry but it's been beyond crazy. We'll chat soon. People's true colours come through at the worst time!
It's the way they've welcomed you that I know you would have happy days ahead of you😁♥️
You're so right @asiaymalay! Thank you for always popping in🥰

Wow, that amazing place and photos!!!!! I wish you have a great life there
Thank you @totallyali 😊
Wow, it's so beautiful and lush there! I'm glad you're a step closer to your new home, Lizelle! Sorry to hear your faith in humanity took a dent.
It's gorgeous here, they're only allowed indigenous plants. I will take a walk around and photograph some plants. It's colder here so some plants do well here.
Yesterday made up for all the struggles of these past weeks🤗
good luck @lizelle , I can appreciate your wrench from old to new, but in your words I see buried optimism and I get the sense that you will rock your new place. looking forward to your updates x
Thank you dear @grindle, I appreciate your kind words! I am enjoying the new life up here. There's so much to do here, I'm already being kept busy, but in a good way😉
Excellent
We are so happy to see this, and Marian says that you look younger every day 😊
It was a long wait, especially as I think about the disappointment with the first estate agent that bombed, and all of the other hassles that you had to face. But as always, things settled down, and now by grace you are at the start of your new life.
Our prayers are with you as always.

Oh, Lizelle, this moment of transition to your new home feels so good, surrounded by family and loved ones who have supported you in this big step—in short, true love.
I wish you much success and that you enjoy this moment with all its emotions. It's life; it's beautiful to experience it in all its forms. We are always learning and evolving.
Cheers!
Thank you dear @nanixxx, your words mean a lot. I'm so glad I finally made the move, it's the best move I could have done.
Yes we learn all the time, and it's wonderful ❤️
A very heart warming welcome they have given to you and I hope you would enjoy, live peacefully and healthy in this new place. God bless you my dear.

What a lovely welcome with family and friends @lizelle, I'm sure you're going to be very happy there, I'm glad that you're close to Roeloff and Mandy, they're going to keep you very busy. There's a lot to do up that way.
Enjoy your stay with Mandy and give those worsies a love and cuddle from me.
Thanks for sharing.
You know all about it my friend! Mandy and I were saying what a pity it is that you're not here anymore, but you must come and spend a few days with me once I'm in my house.
They're already keeping me busy. What a change though.
Thank you so much for visiting my post❤️
We will definitely come visit, I miss Waterfall so much, would love to go back there.
You'll be very happy there my friend, love you lots.
Lizzie, I hope this new stage in your life is full of wonderful moments. I love your room at your brother's house. Enjoy these days!
I can't imagine what you've been through these last few weeks, but the best thing is to hold on to the good memories and move forward.
I hope everything works out for you. 🤗😘
