It's a great island if you like the outdoors - all of the islands that we visited in the Azores actually. Sao Jorge was quite a bit more remote than Sao Miguel

Hmm it's a good question. Many of the homes were made from stone so maybe they pulled the stone from the land directly on site? Materials might have been brought by boat as well…
