Ripe Plantain Photography

Greetings everyone, and happy weekend!

I saw this prompt last night and decided to wait until this morning to write about it so I could snap a photo. I didn't want to use any of the photos in my gallery; I needed a fresh snap. When I woke up and waited for the day to brighten, I went outside and took some photos in our compound, but everything seemed awkward. I decided to walk back inside and lay on my bed to brainstorm how and where to get a very sweet photo.

Laying down was not helping matters, so I got up and started moving around the house. Then I came across the ripe plantain I had kept to use to make 'dodo' for breakfast. I didn't need any convincing to push me to cut the plantain and take some photos of it while I went on to fry my 'dodo'.

I quickly used a knife to cut it and took some photos. It was so fresh, moderately ripe, and edible in its raw state. I love ripe plantain so much; it's one of the baits one can use to tempt me and catch me with ease.

I began to slice it into my mouth, and it was so succulent and sweet. There were three pieces, and I intended to eat just one piece and slice the remaining two for 'dodo'(fried plantain). But when I was done eating the first one, the temptation via the sweetness was too much, and I couldn't resist it. So I went further to eat the remaining two raw, ignoring my initial intention to make 'dodo'...after all, it all ended up in my stomach. No loss. 😅

What about the plantain photo?

After satisfying my craving, I picked up my phone to check the photos I took, and hey, they appeared very nice, making me want to take a bite from the screen. Even after just finishing eating the plantain, I felt the urge to eat more just by looking at the photos.

I'm so glad I took the photo because I love to keep photos like that on my phone for future use, such as showing them to my friends to receive accolades for good cooking skills, keeping them for future blogs, and also using them to remind me of delicious moments when hunger strikes and there's no food. I'll salivate and drink water and be okay for the moment.

Furthermore, I naturally love ripe plantain, and I always turn a deaf ear to any medical warnings that suggest unripe plantain is more nutritious and better to eat than ripe ones.

Every time I visit home or the countryside, I always call ahead about a week in advance so they can provide plantains for me to bring back to my base because buying plantains in the city is like buying gold. I have a lot of photos of plantains on my phone, and every time I come across one, I don't fail to take a snap and add it to my collection.
I just love ripe plantains and love keeping them to see them often.

Thank you for reading.

Kingsley, the raw plantain eater 😂
I love plantains too, but I love it more when I fry it for my spag, rice or beans. I only eat bananas raw because I don´t fry it. Do people even fry bananas?
