Eating in Istanbul - Baked chicken pudding and other food adventures.
The smell in the air changes from freshly baked to sugar coated to grilled meat. Every corner and every two meters you’ll encounter another restaurant, street food stall or bakery.

We follow the smells and find it very hard to choose from all the options.

Luckily we have one week, leaving us with the illusion, that we could try them all. Even though we might have to invent some reasons why to eat in between the official meals.

One thing for sure, I do not remember the last time I have been hungry for more than five minutes in this town.

On one of many walks, that always end up in a cafe on a terrace, in a little restaurant or at least with a snack in our hands...

...we stop in front of a little restaurant, attracted by some interesting looking dessert. We have no clue, what awaits us, but now we must try.
Acting like adults we even eat some savoury foods first. After we literally ate kebabs every day for a while, its nice to have some veggies in our plates.

When we check the menu for the dessert the surprise: “Baked chicken pudding” What? Hopefully that wasn’t the one we came here to try. But, surprise, it is. We do not speak any Turkish and the restaurant owner doesn’t speak English, so we point and ask with face and fingers if there surely is a fried chicken in that pudding. But he encourages us to try and lets us guess from his reaction that the dessert would be super tasty.

I am in, even if there is a baked chicken in that pudding, I trust the Turkish cuisine!

A spoon full, sceptic while laughing, we try. Waiting for the chicken to show up...

...maybe it was hiding well, or maybe there was no chicken at all inside that pudding.

What we ordered wasn’t a baked chicken pudding, more likely the dessert got just lost somewhere in translation.

I am almost disappointed. But also, a bit reassured.

Thank you all for stopping by, have a good day!
All words and photos are my own written and taken in Istanbul.
How lot did you pay for all this 👀👀👌 ?
😂😂 ...does it look like "that" much?
Noo :)) but my mind was just think how lot :))
I guess it all depends what food prices you are used to, compared to where I grew up food here is really cheap:)
ok ..ok :)) I hope it was something 19 euros all this :))
I mean I didn't eat it all in one day:D
Food presented looks good, vegetables interesting to say the least. Turkey being a cross roads in the world the different dishes must be an adventure exploring through some.
Thank you!
Just the food is an adventure on it's own, indeed!! So much to explore:)
Enjoy the city I believe it is fascinating.
Thank you, I will:)
My, my, you sure had the best time of your life with those delicious foods and with different kind of it. They all look pleasing to the eye, what more if the whole place was filled woth a delicious smell too, that's a double kill and i'm sure no one can say no to them (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
I did:) For sure it was a pleasure for all the senses!! ...and very exciting to explore:)
Oooh, so gorgeous this post, dearest @kesityu.fashion !! Oh and how much I laughed at your chicken pudding!! Maybe it was just a reference to chicken eggs?? Oh, I could not imagine if it was actually chicken meat inside it... oh my...
The imagery of food is so beautiful: I lived in Cyprus, in the Greek half - leaving just as the border was opening up for the first time, and I visited Nicosia, the capital, just once - as the Turkish were returning to the Greek side... But there was still a lot of Turkish influence in the food and culture - especially in Nicosia. Such flavours and joy you convey, sharing your posts like this: it is a feast for us too!!
:-D
If I got it right, in Turkish it is called something like chicken-breast-pudding, because of how it looks like, they just translated it one by one ...but first I also guessed it would be for the eggs:)
Aaha that sounds good!! I bet also Greece must be a delight when it comes to food!
And thank you, once more for such a lovely comment!😊🧡
I wonder what came first, the chicken pudding or the egg? ;<)
Lol, the pudding probably wandering around in the wild:D
