Summer: Love and Family, Mouthwatering Food, Blue Skies, And The Blue Crystal Sea

We are truly blessed, for our country is a tropical one. Beautiful beaches, hot summer sun, and cool ocean breeze make the season one of the best times of the year. And the best thing about summer is that it is best when you spend it with family and loved ones, sharing the beauty of nature, sharing the mouthwatering foods, and of course, sharing the love and unity among family members.

Last week was my mother's birthday, but we never told her that we would be going home on her day. Ours is a 5-hour journey to my mother's place. We decided to surprise her, and on her birthday, she was shocked when she opened the door and there we were, her children and grandchildren.

We brought her to one of the crystal blue water beaches in Tubajon, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental. We, her children, secretly planned how to spend the day with her, so one of my siblings brought cake and ice cream, one brought chopseuy and buttered shrimp, some cold drinks, while mine was fish and chicken to be grilled. We knew that our mother loves swimming with her grandchildren and loves crystal clear waters just like us. Tubajon is about an hour's journey from my mother's city, and the travel was smooth and easy. We spent the entire day diving, swimming, grilling, and eating.

We bought some fish and chicken wings from a nearby market and started to put up a fire when we arrived at our cottage to grill those.

The fish was fresh and was good for grilling. My nephews did the labor of cooking the food.

While preparing our food and others started to dip into the crystal clear water, there were passenger airplanes passed by under the clear blue skies. The place is very near the Laguindingan International Airport, and every time, the kids shouted and jumped for joy as they could see airplanes just above their heads. That's how kids always behave when they see airplanes in the sky.

After the festive lunch we shared, we started to explore the beach, and others started to enjoy diving from the big rocks and bamboo floors down into the water. I don't dive, never in my life that I tried diving into the sea, I have hydrophobia. I was just enjoying watching my family having fun diving.

The white sand under the high wall rocks seemed like salt that kids also enjoyed playing with and hauling sand into castles. Others hid under the rocks and had their picnics, and some spread their mats and slept.

The day was too short, but we had to go home and have a short rest before we traveled back to our home. The day ended, but the love, happiness, and unity among the family members never ended. The memories will always stay in our hearts. The best thing about that short celebration is that we could tell how happy our mother was on her birthday.
