Smashed Shepherds Pie; A new thing!

Before going in the oven

Cooked. Smells delicious!

Smashed Shepherds Pie is a fitting name based on my plating skills!
Full disclosure - I am 38 and only just learned to cook within the last 5 years. It's not that I was lazy; it's that I worked shift work and happened to fall in love with an marry a man that could cook! Haha
Once I left my work and became a full time stay at home Mom, I had to learn how to cook...and fast. I would never come out of all of that and say that I am a great cook. You have to love to cook to be a great cook. However, I am learning to love it and I am learning new things in the process.
One thing about kids is that, well, most of them are super picky eaters. Mine are no exception. It's incredibly rare to find a dish that they will ALL eat....but you do what you can!
Today, I needed to use up some small potatoes I had before they turned and I had some ground beef in the fridge so I put a new twist on a classic dish (Shepherds Pie) and I named it.....

Smashed Shepherds Pie! 😂🤣 Creative...I know!
Here's why...
I par cooked the small potatoes and then added some butter, salt, pepper and garlic in them and smashed them (not mashed), peelings and all.
I cooked the ground beef, added some peas and carrots and made my gravy. Then I put the potatoes on top and baked it in the oven at 350 for roughly 40 minutes.
It turned out fantastic! It may not be much to look at but we were all happy in this house afterwards.
