The Harry and Izzy's "Izzy Spritz"

There are many iconic restaurants in the city of Indianapolis, but none probably more so than the famous St. Elmo's Steakhouse. While I love this venerable Indianapolis icon, I more often find myself in its baby brother - Harry and Izzy's. This more modern take on the old school steakhouse shares many of the same menus and items. In my 2023 adventure of trying 23 new restaurants and/or new dishes at restaurants that I've been to, I enjoyed trying this Izzy Spritz to drink along with the Crab Beignets appetizer. The take on a classic beignet filled with a crab filling instead of dough was tasty but the texture of the crab filling was more soup than filling - I would have preferred just a bit more robustness. The Izzy Spritz which is "Exotico reposado, aperol, grapefruit juice, grapefruit soda" was light and refreshing with a nice touch of smoke - enhanced by the grapefruit garnished. Overall a lovely appetizer and drink combo to enjoy over good conversation with a friend last evening.
