Your macros are simply astonishing. May I ask what equipment, lens (camera), tubes, you're using for them? I changed camera brands recently and am still looking and wondering if I should invest in a macro lens or not...

Thank you very much , and off course you may ask :)

normally i post the camera and lens used underneath my photos , since most of them are old school manual focus and not sending EXIF info to the camera.

i use several cameras :

Sony A700
Sony A6000
Sony A7II

Lenses used specific for macro :

Reversed Minolta Rokkor 28mm
Panagor auto macro converter + Minolta Rokkor 50mm
Helios 44-2 58mm + 16mm extension tube
Sigma 105mm DG Macro lens
Laowa Venus 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro

Lights used :
Godox TT685s + pringler difusser
Godox V1S
Godox -M1
Laowa LED ring on front of the Laowa lens.

image of the Sony A6000 + Laowa Venus 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro + Laowa LED ring + Godox TT685s Flash light + Pringles difusser .

you can find all the macro's i make @stresskiller and @hive-15966 😉

feel free to ask i love to share info .

Wow - you seem to be crazy dedicated to macro! Well, your photos definitely show your skill. Do you always use flashes when you photograph e.g. insects - gotta love the Pringles diffuser 🤣.

When I got the Zeiss 100mm macro for my Nikon D800 I considered the Sigma 105 but I wanted a Zeiss lens (I'm German) - hahaha - now the lens and camera are gone, all sold. I think I needed a new beginning. We'll see.

I bought a Fuji XT5 because I really wanted a smaller body but during evaluation, I got close to choosing a Sony A7IV. What can I say, the smaller and cooler-looking camera won! Totally valid arguments - hahaha

99% of the time i use either flash / or LED light ( Godox-M-1 ) , most insects i photograph are in the shade , the flash is needed to get the details right in the photo, and with the 2.5 magnification at f8 it's a mandatory to see anything at all .

Picking a camera is like picking a pen to write , if it doesn't feel good in your hands you end up not using it :)

at least that is my personal experience . Zeiss glass is beautifull but not the kind of money i want to throw at a lens , i do have a helios 44-2 58mm and jupiter-8 85mm both are Zeiss clones from the USSR ;) bot with awesome bokeh .

i llife very close to the German border in the Netherlands.

Completely agree. My D800+Nikon 70-200 in hand always felt like my extended hand, like part of me. For most people that combo was too big, for me it felt just right and nicely balanced. Until I stopped using it. Not the camera's or equipment's fault but - just change of life. It was is a great camera.

It makes sense to use additional light, but personally, I just always hated lugging around flashes or - uggh - a tripod. Both are pretty much necessary for really good macros.

Zeiss lens - well, it was a present from me to me at a time I was able to afford it. These days I wouldn't buy one either, hence my looking around. Per my latest post though I might get a Lensbaby before deciding if I want/need a macro.

Thanks for your insight.

Wow! All the pictures are stunning - very beautiful and artistic!
I must check if I can participate even if it difficult as I have only a modest telephone for that.

Hi Olgavita , thank you , it's not a photo contest it's participating that counts , these photos are only to inspire people of what they could look for to take pictures of .
