#Beersaturday Drinking in Singapore - Part 1

Singapore is an excellent place to drink craft beer, I learnt this when I was there recently.

Singapore is an expensive place to drink craft beer, I also learnt that when I was there recently.

Maybe it's not surprising, I mean Singapore is a modern, affluent city, it shouldn't surprise that given a slight amount of effort it was fairly darn easy to find yourself in a craft beer bar having some very very impressive beers.

So lets talk about some of them:

Druggists

This I had heard about before I left, my partner was in Singapore a couple of years ago and spoke very highly on this little beer bar.

Why druggists, well it's in the Thew Chinese Druggists association, and the sign inside suggests they may still live upstairs, the fact that the bar is between a Cheese bar called Cheeselads and a shop that exclusively sells Tiramisu should tell you we are in hipster-ville. The fact that within 2 minutes of sitting down I had made friends with a dog called Charlie should also be a hint

Like many a bar in Singapore their international line up is spectacular - which shouldn't be a surprise given Singapore's place as a global trading hub. The pick of their beers were European.

The pick of the beers I had there - Rye King by Amager Byrhaus - who are Danish.

Speaking of European beers - Let's discuss a bar called MALT (I'm stealing these photos from the internet as I didn't seem to take any)

It was located a good 200m from our hotel, so we imagined we would go there multiple times but we only went once, but what a trip. I have to say I'd never tried a Georgian craft beer before, but now I have - three of them in fact all from a brewery called Megobrebi.

Now I don't know if this brewery specialises in Slurpee like Sours, but that seemed to be what we were getting here. They were all gimicky, they were all also very very tasty.

So there you have it - part one of my journey into Singapore beer bars - Next week I'll tell you about 3 or 4 more, and I'll even tell you about some Singapore Craft brewers
