To be honest, I believe the balloons escaped because they wanted better lighting for pictures. 😄 Certain party balloons have a chrome look that makes them stand out against the sky much more, especially at dusk or in overcast conditions like the ones in your photos. I was reminded of how reflective balloons can drastically alter the mood of outdoor photos after seeing some really inventive metallic styles here: https://balloons.online/colors/chrome-balloons/. Additionally, your cloud photos were stunning, particularly the ones were the sun was peeking through. Additionally, since time and focus can change in an instant, don't be too hard on yourself for shooting numerous photographs right now. Many photographers do the same thing even without shaky hands.
