Tomó algún tiempo llegar al lugar, pero totalmente valió la pena.

Salimos casi a mediodía y el plan original era ir a la playa. El cambio de rumbo fue repentino, surgió porque no habíamos almorzado y decidimos ir a algún restaurante. Valoramos varias opciones rápidamente y finalmente nos decidimos por la Finca Vista Hermosa, un lugar con muy buenas reseñas.

It took some time to get to the place, but it was totally worth it.

We left almost at noon and the original plan was to go to the beach. The change of course was sudden, it came about because we had not had lunch and decided to go to a restaurant. We quickly evaluated several options and finally decided on Finca Vista Hermosa, a place with very good reviews.

El recorrido fue desde Playa hasta Guanabacoa, ambos municipios habaneros. Para que tengan una idea, la distancia entre los dos puntos es de unos 26,6 kilómetros tomando la ruta más rápida, la cual bordea la periferia habanera. Aquí unas fotos que tomé cuando ibamos por el emblemático Castillo de la Punta, en el Malecón capitalino.

The route was from Playa to Guanabacoa, both Havana municipalities. To give you an idea, the distance between the two points is about 26.6 kilometers taking the fastest route, which runs along the outskirts of Havana. Here are some photos I took when we were walking along the emblematic Castillo de la Punta, on the capital's Malecon.

El paisaje de las calles pavimentadas y los edificios elegantes cambió en el momento que salimos de la Vía Monumental. Los caminos a partir de esa zona son de tierra, por lo que tuvimos que atravesarlos como si estuvieramos montando caballos. Créanme que el carro sintió los baches del terreno irregular 😂.

Una vez que llegamos, lo colorido del lugar y el canto de los pájaros nos transmitió una tranquilidad y una paz que solo la Naturaleza nos puede proporcionar 🌲.

The landscape of paved streets and elegant buildings changed the moment we left the Via Monumental. The roads from that area onwards are dirt, so we had to ride through them as if we were riding horses. Believe me the car felt the bumps of the uneven terrain 😂.

Once we arrived, the colorfulness of the place and the birds singing transmitted us a tranquility and peace that only Nature can provide us 🌲.

La entrada del restaurante es por un pasillo de techo de guano, muy al estilo de las casas construidas por los campesinos cubanos. En el medio del pasillo de la entrada, estaba el menú con las ofertas gastronómicas. 🍽️🍚🍖🥩🥂

The entrance to the restaurant is through a guano-roofed hallway, very much in the style of the houses built by Cuban peasants. In the middle of the entrance hallway was the menu with the gastronomic offerings. 🍽️🍚🍖🥩🥂

Luego, nos sentamos toda la familia a la mesa. Cada cual hizo su pedido y yo por supuesto hice el mío. Primero pedí un rico jugo de guayaba y un entrante de una ración de croquetas y otra de quesos. Debo decir que todo estaba delicioso, los quesos creados en los campos cubanos son saladitos, inigualables.

Then, the whole family sat down at the table. Everyone placed their order and I of course placed mine. First I ordered a delicious guava juice and a starter of a portion of croquettes and another of cheeses. I must say that everything was delicious, the cheeses created in the Cuban countryside are salty, incomparable.

Después vinieron los platos fuertes, Mi familia pidió todo tipo de carnes: conejo estofado, lasaña de res, costillas de cerdo y yo pedí masas de cerdo con una ración de arroz y frijoles. De nuevo debo decir que fue una elección sabia porque aquello estaba exquisito. 😋

My family ordered all kinds of meats: braised rabbit, beef lasagna, pork ribs and I ordered pork dumplings with a portion of rice and beans. Again I must say it was a wise choice because that was exquisite. 😋

Mientras almorzábamos, teníamos la grata compañía de una gallina cacareando 🐔. Terminamos todos llenos y como bien dice el dicho: "Barriga llena, corazón contento". Nos demoramos un buen rato almorzando y compartiendo en familia. Luego, aproveché y tomé algunas fotos de mi alrededor. Aquí van algunas:

While we were having lunch, we had the pleasant company of a clucking hen 🐔. We all ended up full and as the saying goes: "Full belly, happy heart " We lingered for quite a while having lunch and sharing as a family. Then, I took advantage and took some pictures of my surroundings. Here are some of them:

Había un parquecito artesanal al que solo podían acceder los menores de 12 años. Los aparatos estaban hechos de cuerda y troncos. En la jaula que se ve en la foto había una ardilla, pero estaba escondida en su casita dentro de un leño.

There was a handmade playground that could only be accessed by children under 12 years of age. The equipment was made of rope and logs. In the cage shown in the photo there was a squirrel, but it was hidden in its little house inside a log.

Ya casi al atardecer, era hora de regresar a casa. Momento de subir nuevamente al carro, ponerse los audífonos para escuchar música en el camino y disfrutar el viaje en la carretera. Qué bendición poder salir a despejar de lo cotidiano, de compartir con nuestros seres queridos. Esos son los pequeños momentos por los que uno dice: la vida es bella.

It was almost sunset and it was time to go back home. Time to get back in the car, put on the headphones to listen to music on the road and enjoy the trip on the highway. What a blessing to be able to get away from the daily routine, to share with our loved ones. Those are the little moments for which one says: life is beautiful.
