First taste of Chicken Curry rice set at Encik Tan

If you are looking for the Halal version of popular Chinese food then Encik Tan has to be the good choice for that. It's a chain of fast food restaurants that serve what people call "real" food. The kind of service that they do is as fast as the fast food restaurant chains but the food that they offer is something that you would expect from a typical hawker food stall. They can achieve the speed by pre-cooking the food and then they will plate it for you as soon as you order.

I did a bit of research about this fastfood chain and found that the owner has started through humble beginnings. The owner didn't even finish school and yet he started this business as a small fishball stall. With help from his brothers and business partners, they can grow it into a food empire.
What I like about this place is that it's considered affordable even though it's located in a shopping mall and the interior is also air-conditioned. I have to highlight this because, in a country like Singapore, the warm weather and humidity can affect the way you perceive your experience when eating. And this kind of comfort will affect the way they price the food.
This nice set of meals cost me S$6.00 which is considerably cheap compared to many of the hawker food across the country. For me, the average price for a meal is already around S$5 to S$7 so this chicken curry set is well within the price range that I'm willing to pay for a nice meal.

I may not be a big fan of spicy food but this recipe by Encik Tan has the perfect amount of spice and balance in flavor that suits my taste. I think they dial down the spiciness of the curry to be able to fit into the palate of almost everyone. The ones who are accustomed to the strong flavor of curry and high level of spice or hotness will find this dish a little bland and a little creamier than usual.

They also have different variants for this curry dish which I may try the next time that I come back to this shop. The fish curry looks delicious as well. I'm adding that to my list.
