Chao Yuan's Handmade Meatball Noodles

"Food is Life." Have you heard of this expression before? Personally, this is correct in many views about life. With my basic understanding of food, I won't survive a day without food. I may not die physically but I will lose all my motivation to function without having to eat anything in a day.

Nowadays, I have a specific routine when it comes to food. I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well. If I skip any of those meals then it wouldn't feel right anymore. I tend to base my mood based on what I eat on a specific meal of the day. When I feel stressed, I tend to eat less while I eat more when I feel happy about something. Food is a part of my life and it sustains me physically. So, I strongly agree that food is life.

For my dinner, I went to the Kallang area to find a new food gem. Last night, I discovered the Chao Yuan Noodle shop.

I ordered Meatball noodles! I had the dry version without the chili paste. The Uncle who made this dish called it noodles in "black" sauce. I think that it's a combination of condiments with soy sauce as the main ingredient. I think I like this version better because I can't really eat too much spicy food. The best part of this set is the meatballs and the soup. The soup has a subtle flavor and taste which is what I always look for in a soup.

The meatballs are handmade because I can tell from the inconsistency of the sizes. It's a good sign that it will be delicious. This is why I prefer ordering from the shops that make their food handmade because it tastes legitimately good and fresh as well.

When it comes to the drinks, I ordered the Chrysanthemum tea with ice. It's home-brewed and chilled too. I'm not a big fan of flower-based tea but this one tastes good. I think I like this because it pairs well with the noodles.

So, last night's dinner cost me S$4.50 for the noodles with meatballs and S$2.50 for the iced Chrysanthemum tea. A total of S$7.00 for a nice dinner like this is considered good, especially in this time when most of the prices have gone up.

My food blog series is slowly turning into a journey for me to discover my inner foodie self. By no means, I was ever a foodie, and I never will be a foodie someday. Maybe I could be a foodie. I said that because of the way I eat lately. There's a motivation for me to find food places by small business owners who have the eagerness to support their products instead of going for fast-food chains owned by big corporations.

I think that supporting small businesses is beneficial in many ways. Firstly, I can help the livelihood of the business owner. Also, I'm helping with the preservation of cuisines that are still made using the traditional way of making them.

It tastes good and it feels good to be able to support a business owner in keeping a tradition alive.

My journey to the world of crypto.
