A soothing meal of Kway Chap from Yew Kee Specialties
I was craving for something different on this lunch so I travelled to the Kallang Wave in search for something that will interest me. The December breeze feels a little cold today which makes soup a good option. Another option that I’m thinking about is curry rice at Encik Tan’s place because it’s spicy enough to warm me up a little bit. It’s been a while since I ate there so it could be something that I would consider as well. My other option is duck rice because they give complimentary soup that taste nice as well.
Eventually, I decided to go for a Kway Chap Meal.
For me, it has the right balance between carbohydrates and protein. And it also tastes good! I think I mentioned this in my previous food posts that I like the texture of flat and wide noodles.
It has a variety of ingredients that makes it enjoyable to eat. The pork belly is so good! It was juicy and tender.
Every ingredient has their own unique taste and flavor yet they compliment each other. I also like the tofu which is deep fried and then stewed in the broth making it a sponge for all of the flavors.
The rest of the ingredients contribute to the overall taste and flavor in this dish.
The soup feels comforting to drink. And the good thing about this dish is that there’s no strong flavor or it wasn’t too salty. There’s a right balance of taste that’s why many elders like this dish.
Yee Kew specializes in Braised Duck which I tried and enjoyed before. For today, I also want to try their Kway Chap set, it was also good.
