A hearty Mutton Briyani at Al-Tasneem Restaurant
After a tiring stroll along the Northbridge road, I decided to turn back and find a place where I could eat a full meal. I need to regain all of the energy that I burned during the 1-hour walk. During that night, I already knew what I would like to have, it had to be something very filling for me to feel satisfied. It's been a while since I ate Briyani so I searched which one of the restaurants offers the best.

Among all of the restaurants along Northbridge Road, I realize that the food that they serve all seems the same so I decided to go with Al-Tasneem for no specific reason.

My go-to briyani is chicken but I wanted to try something different that night so I ordered the Mutton Briyani. It's a dollar more expensive than the chicken because mutton is not a common meat to have so the price is understandable. The dish cost me S$9 while the canned green tea was S$3, I paid a total of S$11 because it's a "touristy" area.
With regards to the food, I think the dish is good enough however, the meat is a little tougher than what I expected. I tried mutton briyani in other restaurants and it's not as tough as this one. The flavor of the curry is just right for me because the level of spice is something that I can tolerate.

I may not be a fan of spicy food but once in a while, I can manage to finish a meal like this one. On this plate, I was also served with a cucumber salad which is a good way to dial down the spiciness of the dish with its sweet sauce.

If there's one item that seems to be missing is the Apalam, which is a cracker that is usually served on the side to add some texture to it. I like dipping the crispy apalam into the gravy and even adding the briyani rice with it and the taste is so satisfying.

Anyway, it was a filling and my energy was regained after finishing this meal. I felt ready to go back home so I walked for another 20 minutes to go to the nearest Circle Line MRT station.
My journey to the world of food.
