Among the types of cuisine that are available in SG hawker food centers, Western food is among the ones that are priced higher. A reason for that is the generous serving of protein and the sides that come along with it. I guess the grilling of meat is "pricier" than the typical stir-fry or sauteed dishes. That could explain the pricing behind this type of cuisine.

While this is true most of the time, there is a specific Western-style hawker stall that breaks away from the common belief that Western food can't be affordable. They are changing my perception of Western food here in SG. The name of the stall is 88 Western Cuisine and I had the chance to order from them at lunchtime.

It's a legit Western food because everything was cooked upon ordering. The coleslaw tastes fresh and the the egg looks stunning!

That's something that I appreciate from this stall, it's the attention to detail. The affordable price didn't deter the stall owners from lowering the standard of the food. I paid S$5.50 for this meal which is about the same cost that I usually spend on a 3-dish Cai Fan, how cool!

Everything on this plate is spot-on! The chicken was perfectly cooked. It's tender and the grilling gave its caramelized flavor and aroma.

It's not a wonder why this specific stall has caught the attention of young customers. This is the kind of meal that I would go for as a student. It's affordable and it's delicious as well.
