Driveway Ice, Fog Burning Off, High Protein Tortillas, Hockey - Tuesday
We are in the lull between storms systems now and yesterday started out quite foggy around the farm with it getting lighter then denser. The skating rink that is the yard has been given a bit of traction thanks to the squirrels ripping apart the pine cones overhead.
Mid morning I tossed a full bag of sand and a part of one in the bed of my truck along with the seed spreader and drove out to the end of the driveway.
The transition between our road and our driveway is notorious and if going the wrong speed can slingshot one off to the side and into the massive berm.
I spread a lot of sand out all along the driveway and along the road and under the mailbox. The mail carrier has trouble getting our mail into the box sometimes since their vehicle slides down away from the box.
I kept adding more and managed to get the slickness factor reduced quite a bit.
The culdesac is a trap for people this time of year. We have had people get stuck over the years as you can see the road is cambered away from our driveway and the sheet of ice makes it really hard for most all vehicles. If the vehicle stops on the slope it will slide.
It was around noon when the fog finally burned off and the sun shone through for the rest of the day.
I picked the boys up from school then had to get another batch of tortillas made as we had finished the protein batch. I got the dough mixed, divided, then the initial press done on all 16.
These came out a bit more grainy than the last ones and did not press as nice. I think I needed to add more water and will play with the amount more on the next batch.
The second pressing was done with the hand roller and got them all much larger and thinner.
It wasn't long after I had them made that R came running into the house then back out with a couple in his arms.
Kraken are on a roll and beat Buffalo that has been hot lately.
Today I have my dentist appointment and hopefully I will get this tooth dealt with. This is going to be the beginning of a really long process but one that I am hoping will help with my eczema as well. I have been reading that dental issues can cause the body to react in many other ways, one of which is inflamed skin issues. Tonight I have the co-op board meeting and @stryeyz will take the boys to scouts.

I enjoyed your post ... the photos were winter at their best ... HOWEVER, when I went to your family farm website, the OBStore was giving me a 404 message ... I'd love to check out what you have for sale ...
Ahh, I have to rework my site. Open Bazaar died a while back and I have kept neglecting to fix my page.
Take your time ... just wanted to make sure you knew ... every year someone orders me pears from Harry and David, which is in your neck of the proverbial woods, but ME? I'd rather buy farm-fresh things from a Pacific Coast Hiver, any day... but, no hurry...
