My Native Delicacy

Hello Hivians
It's a beautiful day in this part of the world and today I want to share my native delicacy.

In Nigeria, we have different States which means different cultures, different languages, and different cuisines. I'd narrow it down to my own birth state. I am from Akwa Ibom State and a native of Urueoffong Oruko Local Government Area. We are popularly referred to as Oron People, but what people don't know is that Oron is actually a Local Government on its own, still in Akwa Ibom State. For Clarity, Oro Nation consists of Five Local Government Areas, namely, Urueoffong oruko, Okobo, Udung Uko, Mbo, and Oron, respectively.

Back to the business of the day, the ORO Nation is recognized by one single meal, just like the Yorubas with Amala and Iwedu, Hausa with Tuwo Shinkafa, and Igbos with Oha Soup; ours is Iwe Ekpang ma atoñ.

It is a simple meal with a touch of uniqueness, the soup is a typical okra soup with an addition of special ingredients nseme and ukana. These two additional ingredients make the meal different and super unique. And the swallow is made from cassava, which is ground and wrapped vertically and stylishly with plantain leaves and cooked for several hours.

These are the ingredients that make up the above plate of delicacy.
I'm not gonna dive into how it is prepared, that'd be a story for another day.

I'm proud of my heritage and I do hope you're proud of yours.
Enjoy the view and have a productive day......Bye🤸
