Drive 14 KM In The Morning Just To Eat Breakfast Of This Infamous 50 Years Old Nasi Gurih
Hello my dear friends …
I had my boyfriend in town with me and as someone who doesnt and never live in my city, he’s a bit curious about the food in here. My dear father told me about this infamous nasi gurih in here that i have never ever heard of. My father told us to look up the youtube if we want to see about it. He said that its legendary. Well, i dont think about it too much since i have my own favorite nasi gurih and its located close to my house. But, my boyfriend being my boyfriend, the next day he asked me to go with him there because he was curious about it.
We went through the youtube and got quite shocked because most of the recommendations are a non halal nasi gurih. I dont even know non halal nasi gurih exist. Well, we found one video that tell us about his activity going to the infamous nasi gurih that my father talked about. I look up the road that shown in the video carefully to make sure we will come to the right place. I was quite shocked that the place is so far from my house. The nasi gurih located in Sukaramai Market. Sukaramai Market itself are 14 km away from my house, it took us 40 minutes to reach the place. Not only that, the market is big so we need to go round and round to find the place. The place itself doesnt have the name so it’s impossible to try to find it on Google Maps. I have tried look at the nearby store from the video that i watched in Youtube and finally got some clues. We finally see the place, thank God.
I must admit that the stall looks so tempting. I feel like i want to buy everything in there. Sadly, there’s no space to sit and eat in there so we have to get a takeaway. We thought that we can eat in there peacefully after sitting in a car for quite a long time in the morning. Also, in the video it said that this is a 50 years old food stall. The food must be good if it can last that long but to be honest, i dont have high expectations because usually if its been around for too long, the taste will be bland.
Since we dont have any place to eat and we’re in foreign area despite its my city, i dont have the confidence to eat outside. I dont know this area well. So, the only option that we got are to eat in the car. Even if we want to eat in the car, we still need some parking space to do that and i dont feel comfortable to just stop in nearby road to eat. We’ve decided to stop in Alfamart parking spot. My boyfriend went out to buy some drinks and fruits for us to eat. Isnt it like a mini camping? We should totally do that next time.
This is what my boyfriend got and he really bought their most famous dish. His side dish are beef dendeng and a boiled egg. I forgot to asked about the taste because i dont have any interest about beef. This is my dad’s recommendation dish and probably the only reason that we went there. The price for this portion are 20.000 idr.
This is mine. I ordered boiled egg and perkedel as the side dish as i am not a big fan of any kind of meat. This nasi gurih taste good but if you asked me if i will ever have desire to eat it again, i will say no. This nasi gurih is too dry for my taste. Its not spicy too. I like the one near my house a lot and in near my house there’re a lot more better nasi gurih suited for my taste. The price of my portion are 10.000 idr.

Nasi gurih. I'd also be curious if I heard about this dish. Is there coconut milk in the rice too?
