Sin duda, el cisne no solo es bello, sino sabio también, y eligió una compañía saludable que no le ofreciera limosna de migas de pan que aseguran es dañina para los anades. Llamándome Félix, desconfiaría más del cazador que del lobo. Y nunca les preguntaría por la niña y la abuela que les complicaron la vida.
Guardo la anécdota de Diógenes para ilustrar al próximo pedigueño intenso que se me cruce en el camino. El último fue tan osado que sus argumentos y promesas de bendiciones se tornaron en maldición frente a una negativa a su impertinente insistencia.
Cuánta magia guardada en el Parque del Buen Retiro.

The swan is undoubtedly not only beautiful but wise as well; it chose wholesome company rather than accepting the handouts of breadcrumbs—said to be harmful to waterfowl—that others might offer. If I were named Félix, I would be more wary of the hunter than the wolf. And I would never ask them about the little girl and the grandmother who complicated their lives.
I keep the anecdote about Diogenes in reserve for the next persistent panhandler who crosses my path. The last one was so brazen that his arguments and promises of blessings turned into a curse when faced with a refusal of his impertinent insistence.
So much magic held within the Parque del Buen Retiro.
