Not sure if you guys have tried this meal yet, but this is known as Causa Rellena, or Causa (Cause) for short, it's a very traditional Peruvian meal that was developed during the Chilean - Peruvian & Bolivian war (War of the Pacific, aka the Saltpeter War).

The story goes that Peruvian soldiers were not getting enough rations so women cooks began mashing potatoes and mixing ingredients to form this dish. Originally seen as a military ration, this meal quickly became very popular and is referred to as one of the best Peruvian Cuisine.

There is also a Pre-Colombian version which is made in a very similar fashion. Now, there are multiple stories as to the direct origin which can be related to the Quechua language. Some stories refer to the Tawantin Suyu (Inca Empire) as its origin.

The stories of its origin perhaps may be different, but in the end, it is for the cause (Por La Causa).
