Yes, I think this is one of the hurdles we have. Though, on a top down view, I think it is important, even necessary, that content fungibility is leveraged.

What do I mean by that?

Think of Uber, Lyft, Bolt etc.

The service you require is essentially fungible. Customers go where it is cheapest and/or easiest to get the service you want. The actual ride doesn't really differ too much.

Platforms providing this service have difficult creating moats because the fundamental offering is quite liquid. A driver could move from being a Lyft driver, to a Bolt driver to an Uber driver, just as easily as a customer could go between the platforms depending where they can get the same service for the best deal.

Crypto-exchanges are similar. You have choice, and a purchase of Bitcoin from Coinbase, Kraken or anywhere else, is still just a purchase of Bitcoin. It's hard to ultimately secure customers on the offering alone.

Content creators and their platforms are the same. I think this is why TikTok is quite successful, because their platform enabled the creation of those short videos which simply did not exist anywhere else. Then they doubled down on that. Other places have since tried to replicate it, be it instagram reels, or youtube shorts, but each platform's true unique selling point, and thus their defensible moat, came from the non-fungible offerings which initially gave them the headway to capture a significant first movers advantage.

Suffice to say, for us, the ultimate non-fungibility comes back to the users, and their ability attract attention. We are good at that on Hive, but rather poor elsewhere. I'm beginning to think we should make a collective and focused effort to help creators on Hive become prominent creators outside of Hive, if only to make them realise the best stuff is on Hive!
