Travel Post 52 - Haizhu Square + Chua Lam Dimsum Lunch In Guangzhou, China

Hi there. In this travel post, our group are still in Guangzhou, China. The previous post covered visiting the Canton Tower and the Guangzhou Library. We head out to the Beijing Road area for lunch.

Haizhu Square

On the way to Beijing Road, we check out Haizhu Square. This is a public square in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou, China. We visit and take a look at the centrepiece statue. We skip the shopping mall.

Haizhu Square is on Line 2 in dark blue or Line 6 in the maroon colour of the Guangzhou Metro Map.

Chua Lam Dimsum Restaurant Near Beijing Road Pedestrian Street

Beijing Road station is one stop away from Haizhu Square. It is on Line 6 of Guangzhou Metro).

I don't remember which exit we took from Beijing Road station. We visit the mall at Beijing Road for lunch.

After searching around, we decided to go for Chua Lam Dimsum again. The previous time was after visiting the Bruce Lee Memorial area near Shamian Island. I had no photos taken at the time (somehow).

As we had Chua Lam Dimsum again, it was on purpose that we chose items that were different from the first time.

Congee (Rice Porridge) With Some Vegetables

Wonton Style Dumpling With Fish Roe

I forget what the white stuff was. It might have been crab meat. These dumplings look familiar but it is also modern looking.

Rice Roll With Crispy Tempura Style Roll Inside

I don't know the correct name for this. It is a Rice Roll with fried shrimp inside. This is my new favourite dimsum dish.

Claypot Rice Bowl

Claypot rice bowls are fairly new to me. I don't have them often. This one came with chicken and a onion and garlic paste on top. This one was comfort meal dish. Not awful but no amazing to me.

Juice, Might Have Been Bayberry Juice

This was one of those things where you try it for the first time, you don't know what it is and it tastes good. It is sort of like a mix of pomegranate juice and raspberry.

Dimsum here in Guangzhou, China is much cheaper in price compared to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. About half price here compared to Toronto. The variety of dimsum at Chua Lam has a mix of traditional dimsum with modern versions of dumplings. Service was fast, friendly. Although it was busy and noisy, the vibe was more relaxed compared to most dimsum restaurants as there was dim lighting. I did like Chua Lam dimsum in China.

A Youtuber I really like for researching Cantonese food spots in the Guangzhou city area is MoGOGOGO. She also does Hong Kong food tours as well.

In the next post, our travel group check out the Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in Guangzhou, China.
