Travel Post 39 - Yixin Hotel Food + Shaxian Snacks Pig Brain Noodle Soup
Hi there. In this travel post, I feature some food from our hotel. I also include Shaxian Snacks restaurant in Meizhou, China again. The main thing we try is pig brain noodle soup.
Yixin Hotel Lunch
In a previous travel post, I shared food from Yixin Hotel. We had scallop with vermicilli, steamed chicken and steamed fried tofu with a savoury sauce.
Our travel group have lunch at our Yixin Hotel for something like 20 guests. As the cost of food is lower compared to Canada, serving 20 people was not too expensive. It might have been something like 100 to 200 CAD. In the Toronto area serving 20 people at a regular Chinese restaurant could easily be 400 CAD.
Here are some food pictures.
Shaxian Snacks Revisited, Pig Brain Noodle Soup
We visit Shaxian Snacks restaurant again. There was one food item I wanted to try. It was Pig Brain Noodle Soup.
The soup broth was a clearish soup. I think it was pork flavoured. The pig brain was actually good. It had a meat flavour with a texture somewhat similar to tofu.
The cost of this noodle soup was not too high if you hold dollars. It might have been less than 6 CAD.
One of the restaurant employees mentioned that although pig brain is good for your brain, having too much is bad for you. It is one of those foods where you have in moderation like most things.
After this trip, we do have a few more days planned in Meizhou, China. As a spoiler we do visit Shaxian Snacks again.
