Just casually browsing food stalls
The saying goes, "Food is the paramount necessity of the people." Food holds an indispensable position in human life, serving not only as a means of survival but also as a core aspect of culture, society, and interpersonal relationships. Different regions, ethnicities, and cultures boast their own unique culinary habits and traditional delicacies. Food not only satisfies our physiological needs but also allows us to express emotions towards our hometown and traditions, as well as experience the charm of diverse cultures through culinary exploration.
Living close to the exhibition center has its perks, one being the opportunity to frequently visit and explore new exhibitions. However, regardless of the type of exhibition, there are always some food stalls present. The more visitors an exhibition attracts, the more food stalls there tend to be. During this exhibition, many food vendors were drawn in, especially with the approaching festive season. To attract customers, vendors generously offered free samples. From my observations, stalls offering free samples tend to attract larger crowds and thus do better in business. Among them, the beef jerky vendors were the most generous, offering small diced pieces for customers to taste-test. Among the various snacks, my favorite was the Penghu shrimp cake. Penghu is renowned for its seafood, and these snacks were made with quality ingredients, boasting rich flavors and an exceptionally crisp texture that set them apart from factory-produced shrimp cakes commonly found in night markets.
There was also a mochi stall where we got to sample various flavors including red bean, green bean, peanut, strawberry, honeydew, and the most unique of all, milk mochi. One bite into the soft and tender milk mochi, and the milky aroma immediately spread in the mouth. However, I hesitated to purchase any as mochi tends to lose its freshness after a few days. Then, unexpectedly, I stumbled upon a stall selling screw noodles packaged as gifts. I've heard a lot about their deliciousness, and after trying them, I decided they would make perfect gifts. It's true what they say about food being paramount – the food stall area was packed with people, and it seemed like the vendors were making a killing.
