這家小吃店,我在用餐時間時,經過了幾次,每次經過時,店內都沒有幾桌客人用餐,店內環境有點舊,店內燈光有些昏暗,價錢標示不明確,店家貼上烏魚煎、吻仔魚炒飯、烏魚便當等美食,卻沒標上價錢,讓我懷疑,這家店會不會是黑店,因為看過太多新聞,顧客在用餐前沒問價錢,之後付錢時,被店家敲了一筆,而鬧上了新聞,這樣的經驗,讓我始終不敢進去用餐。

某天,中午用餐時間,我又出來覓食時,發現幾乎每間店家,店內都是滿滿的客人,看起來要等很久才能用餐,有些店家雖然店內有空位,但是賣的食物,我完全不感興趣,或是賣的太昂貴,以至於,我在餐廳林立的區域,逛了幾十分鐘,居然找不到一家中意的店家。

只好我就提著勇氣,進去這家我本來完全不想踏入的店家,嘗試看看,原來店家還是有菜單的,看到明碼時標的價錢,我就有點底氣點餐了,本來以為這家店是專賣便當的,原來它主要是賣魚料理的,主打產品是虱目魚,虱目魚以多刺廣為人知,魚體有222 根刺,但是肉質細而味道鮮美,營養價值高,有牛奶魚的美稱,我吃過,覺得還好,雖然很多人喜歡吃,我個人覺得,有點名過於實。

總之,我點了份海產炒飯及豬肝湯,我猜海產炒飯應該就是魚雜炒飯,廚師做菜時的一些剩餘菜料,收集一下,弄一弄就是一盤可以果腹的料理,上菜後,我翻了一下內容,有魚肉、魚皮及魷魚末等,雖然賣相不好,但是味道還不錯,豬肝湯倒是讓我驚艷,豬肝入口柔軟又帶點彈性,加上清甜的湯頭,性價比絕高,每想到這家不起眼的小店,居然可以找到不錯的美食,看來以後,我還是該多冒險一下,才有機會找到隱藏美食。




This snack shop is one I passed by a few times during meal hours. Every time I walked past, there were only a few tables with customers. The place looked kind of old, the lighting was pretty dim, and the prices weren’t clearly listed. The owner had posters showing dishes like pan-fried mullet roe, anchovy fried rice, and mullet bento, but there were no prices on them. That made me suspicious. I wondered if this place might be a rip-off shop. I’ve seen too many news stories where customers didn’t ask the price before eating, then got charged a crazy amount when paying, and it turned into a news scandal. Because of that, I never dared to go in.

One day around lunchtime, I went out to look for food again. I noticed almost every restaurant was packed. It looked like I’d have to wait a long time to eat. Some places had empty seats, but I wasn’t interested in the food they sold, or the prices were too expensive. I walked around a restaurant-heavy area for dozens of minutes and still couldn’t find a place I liked.

So I finally gathered my courage and went into this shop I originally had no intention of entering. It turned out they did have a menu. Once I saw clearly listed prices, I felt much more comfortable ordering. I thought this place mainly sold bento boxes, but it actually focuses on fish dishes. Their main product is milkfish. Milkfish is famous for having lots of bones, about 222 bones, but the meat is delicate, fresh-tasting, and very nutritious, which is why it’s called “milkfish”. I’ve eaten it before and thought it was just okay. Even though many people love it, I personally feel it’s a bit overrated.

Anyway, I ordered seafood fried rice and pork liver soup. I guessed the seafood fried rice might just be made from leftover fish parts — like bits and pieces collected from cooking, then stir-fried into a filling dish. When the food arrived, I checked what was inside and saw fish meat, fish skin, and chopped squid. It didn’t look amazing, but it actually tasted pretty good. The pork liver soup, though, really surprised me. The liver was soft with a little bit of chew, and the soup was light and naturally sweet. The value for money was really high.

I never expected that this unremarkable little shop would have such good food. I guess in the future, I should be a bit more adventurous if I want to find hidden gems.
