What we found at Lampung’s café?
Hello, friends especially foodies!
After arrived in Lampung, beside meeting my boyfriend’s parents, I also have a plan to meet an old friend there. Last time we met was few years ago and it was nice that we could finally set up the time to meet again that time. Short story, my boyfriend and I came to the café where we planned to meet too early, so both of us agree to wait in the café and have some beverages and snack before my friend came.
When we arrived there it was still 11.10 am, so it was an early time for lunch. My friend was working that day and she only could come and join us at lunch time, which mean 12 – 1pm. The name of the café is ESKOLE.
It had its' own parking area at its' front.
The café had a patio with some chairs for outdoor smoking area. And you could see two customers were there already.
Inside, the dining area was nice with some grey sofas and others were wooden furnish. The place was nice, clean and neat. We could say cozy. So it was a nice place to dine in and do the chit chat.
The menu that this café had was quite enough for a café. They had lots of main courses such as
- mie nyemek (wet stir noodle)
- some kind of indomie (famous Indonesian instant noodle) like soup, fried, plus plus (soup/fried), aceh noodle, and meatballs.
- wok soup noodle, wok fried noodle, wok fried flat noodle, and chewy noodle.
Still in the main menu category, they had
- Kind of fried rice like wok fried rice, kecombrang fried rice, village fried rice, and crazy fried rice.
- Kind of rice like original smashed chicken rice, matah chili paste smashed chicken, salt pepper chicken rice, beef yakiniku bowl, mentai chicken rice, nanban chicken rice, salted egg chicken rice, and crazy rice.
- Kind of soto like Betawi soto, yellow chicken soto, and noodle soto.
Next, they had stirred Betawi soto then pictures of three of their new menus: crazy fried rice, crazy rice, and flour fried tempeh.
Even, they had original taichan satay and wrapped egg satay, and for snack time category they had salt chili tofu, cireng, chicken bites, singkong (means cassava) fries, crispy pempek (fish cake), French fries, choco cheese roll banana, and battered fried tempeh.
Still in snack category they had some kind of bread. While they put roasted banana in dessert category, with soft serve ice cream.
For coffee, they had
- Espresso
- Americano
- Cappuccino
- Latte
- Vanilla latte
- Affogato
- Mochacinno
For signature beverage, they had palm sugar coffee, peachpresso, pistachio coffee, V60, and milkshake.
For artisan tea series, they had osmanthus tea, lemongrass tea, creamy osmanthus tea, and lychee tea.
For non-coffee category, they had strawberry cheesecake, creamy Yakult mango, mineral water, E+ mineral water, iced/hot tea, sweet iced/hot tea, lemon tea, lychee Yakult, Iced/hot chocolate, and Thai tea.
For Matche series, they had
- Tap matcha
- Coconut matcha
- Strawberry matcha
- Matcha latte
- Hojjicha Latte
- Matcha Latte float
They also sold TWG tea like English Breakfast, Chamomile, Emperor Sencha, French Earl Grey, White Sky, and Oolong. If you want beer, they also had bali hai.
Not a long time after we ordered, our beverages came. Could you guess which one was mine?
Very lucky, not a long time after our beverages came, our snack was coming too. Could you guess what it was?
And here were all we had while waiting for my friend
Now let me share to you all of their taste and flavour, first start from the beverages
Creamy Yakult Mango
It had a bit creamy texture with mango orange yellowish color. This beverage contained mango juice, Yakult and milk then shaked together. The taste of it was sweet and sour. Served chilled, so fresh in that hot day. So perfect!
ICED AMERICANO
Made from authentic Lampung coffee, this americano had medium strongness. It smelled good and didn’t sour at all. Eventhough I am not coffee expert, but I think this was a good coffee and I could enjoy it.
CASSAVA FRIES
I never had any cassava fries and this was my first time to have it. It was uncommon in my city so I decided to try it. It had crispy soft texture outside with soft texture inside. The flavour was savory and they freshly made it. Well, it tasted beyond my expectation.
After my friend arrived, we also had our MAIN DISH there but unfortunately their yellow chicken soto that I ordered was YUCK! A big No! bad experience, but luckily my boyfriend had salted egg chicken rice which tasted so good.
Anyway you could get free soft ice cream with the purchase of 200K IDR, we could get free ice cream.
As the name, it was soft, smooth and easy to melt, we chose vanilla ice cream which had milky sweet flavour.
And eventhough my main dish was YUCK I still recommend this place if you want to have tasty drinks and snacks… You should try their coffees (lampung coffee is famous), creamy Yakult mango, and cassava fries!
