Hello, friends especially foodies!
Have you ever had the worst dish in your life? Recently I had one of the worst pecel ever, although I ordered it from a popular stall named Rempah Kita.
The name of the stall, Rempah Kita was in Indonesian, if its’ translated it would be Our Spices. Why was it named so? Because it sold many kind of Indonesian dishes which were riches in spices that’s why it named so. Anyway, the stall was so popular so that I needed to queue up in order to get served.
In this stall you could choose many dishes you wanted, they had our country’s authentic dishes there like empal (traditionally cooked beef), green chilli squid, woku chicken, opor chicken, cakalang fish, galangal fried chicken, rendang, spicy shredded beef, potato fritter, sour veggie soup, taliwang chicken, pelalah chicken, bacem tofu and tempeh and so on.
I tried to order one of their specialty, pecel rice. For you to know, I never ordered this kind of dishes there before.
I never tried the pecel dish like this before. First, the veggie they put on included carrot, which was uncommon for pecel. Second, the paste that they put was had too much aromatic ginger in it, yuck.
It served with empal (traditionally cooked beef) which tasted light both in savory and sweet, it was also a bit hard to bite so I also don’t recommend this dish for you either their pecel.
I also didn’t like their traditionally cooked bacem tempeh and tofu because it tasted sweet and a bit stinky of something I didn’t know.
The one that could be well eaten were just their sunny side up egg and also rempeyek chips. The sunny side up egg tasted savory and rempeyek chips too but with crunchy texture and it was so good.
So it was my experience having the worst pecel of my life, hope I won’t taste any like this again in the future…
