Found the best Hot Pot in town

This really hit the spot

Over the weekend, we got a lot of fresh snow and we spent a little over an hour shoveling the snow off our driveway. My wife and I are not fans of being cold, so once we were finished shoveling, I suggested that we go and get hot pot for lunch. If you aren't familiar with what a hot pot is, it is basically a big pot of broth that you cook meats, vegetable and noodles in. It is one of my favorite ideas for a meal and it is the perfect meal for a cold winter day.

The hot pot that we normally go to was closed for some reason, so we had to find a new one. I checked google for the different ones that were open and checked the reviews to make sure that we chose a good one. Hot pot restaurants can be hit or miss when it comes to their service, so make sure if you are going to go to one, that you choose wisely.
It always sucks spending $25 or more per person for hot pot and then when you get there, the service is bad. Hot pot is usually all you can eat and you just order the different meats and stuff and have to wait for the servers to bring more meats and stuff out, and some places take forever to bring you anything and when they do, they only bring a tiny bit of meat out which forces you to order more and then play the waiting game all over again.

We found one nearby called Royal Hot Pot and BBQ. It had the best reviews and it was pretty new. When we got there, the atmosphere was totally different than the hot pots that we had been going to. Right when you walk in, they have a little area for you to take pictures to post to social media. It was a pretty cool idea because it is a great way to get people to post about their experience.

Right off the bat, I could tell that the vibe was going to be pretty cool in this place. The decorations were pretty cool.

The inside of the eating area was really cool and had a real nice "Asian look" to it. Most places here just have a few paintings or pictures of some Asian countries on the wall, but this place really made you feel like you have gone somewhere out of the US to eat. One thing I also pay attention to when I am eating at Asian restaurants is that I like to check to see how many Asians are there because if they choose to eat there over some of the other Asian places, it must be pretty authentic.

Whenever we go to a hot pot, I usually get one spicy broth and one that isn't spicy. I like to cook the meats and some of the veggies in the spicy broth and cook the noodles in the non spicy side. We ended up getting a mild spice flavor on one side and a Tonkatsu broth. The other places I usually go to doesn't have Tonkatsu broth, so it was cool to see this place offer it. The Tonkatsu broth is a bone broth made with pork bones. It is super creamy and has a real nice pork flavor to it. It was a perfect mixture with the spicy side and the meat endedup tasting amazing.

Speaking of the meats, check out this awesome dragon that they serve the meat on. The service was super fast and they brought out a ton of meat all at once. They also had a bunch of sides that are included in the price for lunch and we got an order of gyoza and egg rolls.

There are a bunch of self serve items as well, like vegetables and a few different seafood options. We don't like seafood, so we stayed away from all of that. Broccoli is something that I had never tried in hot pot before because it was never offered anywhere we went before, but it ended tasting really good cooked in the broth. I do wish the corn on the cob was a little bit bigger but they were still pretty good. All of the vegetables were super fresh and had a nice crunch to them.

Overall, Royal Hot Pot and BBQ is an amazing place to get some lunch and it was the perfect meal for a cold snowy day. We are definitely going to be choosing this place as our favorite hot pot. The service was great and we didn't have to wait long for anything. The wait for the gyoza and egg rolls was a bit longer but they were cooked fresh, so it was worth it.
If you are in the Salt Lake area in Utah, I would highly recommend checking this place out. Have you ever had hot pot before? The first time my wife and I tried it was in Thailand during Steemfest and we have been hooked ever since.
What a nice hot spot. Im sure you were enjoying it. The foods served were all nutritious. Keep safe always while traveling mam. Thanks for sharing @derangedvisions

It was awesome.
Every weekend I go with my Rommie to a hotpot near my house in FL, the Asian food in that place is very good and they serve you a lot, it's impossible not to like it, and everything you want for $12, definitely a place to stop for a few hours.
it looks comfortable and the food looks delicious, thanks for sharing that place with us.
$12 for a good hot pot is a great deal. I wish the prices were like that here.
Aargh now I’m craving for this. 😅
Ever since we moved to Tokyo, we haven’t found a great hotpot place yet so we’ve only been making this at home. It’s different though when you eat out.
I’m quite surprised you don’t like seafood. Whyyyy
I bet you got some amazing places to eat in Tokyo. I would love to live there. As far as seafood goes, we hate the texture and the aftertaste of it. It makes me wanna puke.
I'm sure there are but we haven't discovered a lot of favorites yet. In Osaka though we have a lot of go-to places.
Too bad you can't enjoy sushi.
I grew up in Okinawa and Korea. I wish I liked seafood because I am sure there are some really tasty dishes.
That looks good! Last time I was in Salt Lake City I went to a really good mexican restaurant, it really surprised me, it's called Red Iguana.
I love the Red Iguana. That is one of the best places for Mexican food in the area.

The place looks very cool and from the pictures the hot pot was delicious.
I'm craving it now, I have never eaten hot pot and I love Asian soups, but there is no place around here that serves hot pot.
If you are ever able to visit, I will take you out for some good food.
Thank you for the offer. I'll keep that in mind. Who knows, maybe one day :)
You can actually make your own hotpot at home if you have a table top stove. Just add stock in a saucepan and use that as the hot pot. Then prepare whatever meat and veg you like, and make sure you slice the meat thinly so it cooks quickly. As long as the ingredients are nice and fresh, it makes a delicious hot pot!
We love doing hot pot at our house. I just need to find a good broth to use for it. The choices at the Asian market here change every time I go so it's hard to find a good one.
Thank you for the instructions! It seems easy to do so I will try to make it at home for sure :)
That hotpot looks so good, and the pot is big!! The trick with having a good hot pot meal is not to chuck everything all in one go, especially the meat as you won't be able to eat it all quickly enough and some will end up over cooked. Also, dunno if your local has it, if they do, try spam or something similar, it's very good 😀
I eat the meat so fast out of there. I love hot pot.
Now I’m hungry
I've never had hot pot before, but I do like the concept :) Usually a new place is pretty good, they're working extra hard to get a good reputation.

Thank you.
The dragon they serve the meat with is so cool man. I'm not a big fan of hot pot but it looks so delicious that I would have tried it. Most of the time the reason I don't eat a dish is because I haven't eaten it somewhere good. Bon appetit man, and it's always nice to discover a new place. Now you have not one but two places to go when you crave for hot pot.
I think you would like this hot pot place. It is so good and there is plenty to eat.
Damn, this place looks amazing man! All the ornaments and furniture does indeed look pretty Asian. Seems like we both were enjoying soup yesterday! I made my own traditional Indonesian chicken soup (an old family recipe from my grandmother's mother).
Yummy. That sounds delicious.
Awww, what a yummy hot pot and I felt happy that you found the best. Surely you would come back over and over again for finding the right taste. It seems so perfect for this moment in our place as we are now having a colder season than the previous days. Now, I am craving, hehe. Have a great day and take care my friend.
Thank you. Have an awesome day
That looks truly like a great place, I wouldn’t mind visiting one day 😁😎
Great captures!
